Why not look at him? he is proven at Tennessee and it doesn't hurt to have a man actually connected to the program!

Connected or not, if you don't win you will get fired. Fulmer nor Chavis need to tarnish their Vol history, it could only get worse.

Les Miles publicly endorsed him saying Tennessee should hire him so there must be some backing to what Les was saying. Must have interest.

I see it the other way actually. Fulmer went out in a bad way. I would think nothing could be better for the man then to come back win 8-10 games a year for 4-5 years. Maybe win 4-5 bowl games and then retire and turn UT over to the next guy. Tarnished, is the way Fulmer was forced out IMO.

While I think he would do a fine job, Chavis is happy being a highly paid DC. He doesn't want to put up with the crap that a head coach has to.

If Chavis wanted to HC somewhere, he would have done so years ago. He has spent too much time as a DC and is hard wired in that respect. Some guy are tactical and some are strategic.
