John Isner

Isner reminds me of a giraffe. He is freakishly tall. And just hearing how tall he is doesn't do it justice; especially for a tennis player.

In 2008, I alone watched Isner practice for an hour on a side court at a tournament. His serve is a given, but his ability to move and serve and volley does not process in my head. Somehow he does it pretty effectively.

After his practice I walked over to stand beside of him and it felt like I came up to his waist. I wanted to ask someone to take my pic with Isner but decided probably couldn't get both of us in the frame at once.

And he is a really, really nice guy. Which makes it hard to pull against him, however, because he is such a die-hard Georgia Bulldog.

The US needs a solid player back in the top 5 for a long run. Maybe Isner's the guy.

I also saw him practice. I can't say he moves well, but he moves well for a guy that size. I think he is 6-10*.

*He is listed at 6-9, but has hinted that me may be taller than that.
