Said Mr. Kerry, "We have an electorate that doesn't always pay that much attention to what's going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or what's happening."
unfortunately the President still doesn't

The President said "there are probably some aspects of the Tea Party that are a little darker, that have to do with anti-immigrant sentiment or are troubled by what I represent as the President." The tea party is now supported by a third of the country in some polls.

simple slogan, eh? I wonder if he means something like "Hope and Change"?

how so? Is there a catchy little slogan being used on 20-something members of the Tea Party to make them racists?

I didn't really focus on Obama's words (which I guess was the point of your post), but the author legitimizes the Tea Party by pointing out its support from the country. The first quote says the support of the country isn't legitimate.

Do you think that as the Tea Party grows that its members will still be as politically aware as those who first started it? Or do you think that it will just merge into the two-party system?

my point was to laugh at the irony of Kerry's statement. The 2 are not really related except that the Tea Party members can see things much clearer than Kerry or Obama ever have. The mental migets who fell for the Hope and Change line should be ashamed of themselves and be forced to sit out the next election.

and unfortunately the TP is starting to be joined by people who are trying to tie in social issues to the original idea. It was never about that and I think they could have made some real progress by staying on message. They will still have an effect but won't last long before the GOP assimilates them again.
