McCain: Faisal Shahzad Should Not Have Been Mirandized - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Rep. Peter King (N.Y.), the top Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, is also asking whether Attorney General Eric Holder discussed the treatment of Shahzad with the intelligence community before deciding to arrest him on criminal charges, Politico reports.

"If they believe they got enough from him, how much more should they get? Did they Mirandize him? I know he's an American citizen but still," King said.

So only enact the laws when convenient... this stuff just gets better and better

You realize that we were extremely lucky that the bomb didn't go off! Would you still be saying all this Bull if it had killed a dozen Americans?

the bomb going off and him being arrested are two totally different things... he was caught and arrested. so lets allow him to get off the hook because of a technicality??? good plan

We should treat those who attempt to mass murder Americans with no more than a painful execution.

and that's what the court of law is for... it's a process that can NOT only be conveniently applied, especially to american citizens

I'm okay with making exceptions for terrorists. Hell, democrats ignored the constitution when passing health care, may as well ignore it when it applies to giving terrorists rights, unless there is doubt about his guilt.

two wrongs make a right??

He didnt say that. He said your ridiculous title omitted Obama, which was an egregious mistake, given that Obama essentially ordered a death and the guys you listed were inquiring about enemy combatant status.

as a citizen he should be mirandized - (man that hurt)

Doesn't hurt me. He should have been. I'm just glad holder got something right in his tenure. I understand the question, but it was apparently shot down quickly.

I'm okay with him getting read his rights, but I think it's ridiculous to accuse McCain and King of "hating freedom."

It's not that unreasonable... I'm okay with giving him the Miranda rights, but I'm not going to pretend that it's crazy not to.

And as far as the execution Obama ordered, I really have no problem with him making that call if he was absolutely sure of the man's guilt.

I guess he should be read the rights, on the off chance the police made a mistake arresting him.

Barring a shocking discovery that proves absolute innocense, it's not like the rights are going to help him, anyways, so may as well avoid the ACLU garbage.
