Wall also went on to say that he has not been happy for two weeks now, frustrated about everything. Apparently Cal's direct comments about his bad play from the SC game is getting to him a little.
As good as the kid is, he just has some growing up to do. All he has ever known is to just be "John Wall", which in high school hoops was have your ass kissed and be allowed to run the entire game.
Whats happening now, is that Cal is trying mold him into a true point guard, and its stifling Johns ability to just roam free. You can notice a big difference between the early OOC schedule and now. This team was young and inexperienced, and leaned on Wall to do everything he could to carry the team. Basically allowing him to run the offense in any way that worked.
Now that conference play is beginning, this team is finding that its bread is buttered down low. Cal actually made the statement that he wanted to slow it down in the Vandy game and play a little more half-court, getting the ball down low. I think John is just having a little bit of a tough time adjusting to being something other than the star all the time. It doesn't mean he's a bad kid.
Someone else on another site made a comparison between Wall and Cousins, that they could possibly be like Kobe and Shaq. Both have extraordinary games, but are so different in their styles that they cannot co-exist. While I don't believe this to be 100% accurate, there probably is a small contest between wills.
In all reality, we can't go far without either of them playing at maximum efficiency. Both are off to greener pasture's come this summer anyway. We'll just ride it out.
All in all, I don't think its a big issue.
P.S. The only thing that would irk me is if this thing actually caught a little fire under it, and John Wall for some reason advised C.J Leslie (his ex-teammate) not to come to UK, which at this point seems like a great shot that he will.
