John Ward Avenue

you know.. i was think there isnt a street named after john ward... this is rediculous this man is a legend in tennessee sports. He should have his own street named after him. what do you all think.

Hey ya'll,

I don't know how familiar you are with campus but the fairly new [attachmentid=3808]walkway that connects Andy Holt Ave. with the east side of campus is the Joe Johnson & John Ward Pedestrian Mall.

It's not a street, but it's still a nice tribute!

I think the broadcast level of the pressbox is also named after Ward.

John Ward is next only to General Neyland whenever his name is mentioned with the Vols. I too wish he would come back. He deserves numerous accolades the laest being a street honoring him. I think since UT has a new president and A/D (Hamilton), John has been bypassed unfailry. We need to push for this!Great idea.I wish he would call games sometimes.

I think it would be very fitting if Jon Ward called the homecoming games every year.

I wonder if part of it is due to his reluctance to be a UT employee at the time. I think us fans revere him much more than the university does.

I miss hear John Ward too! :bow: When the football game wasn't on TV in Vol Land, I'd listen to it on the radio. Same goes for basketball. He'd call the shots at the basketball game: "BOTTOM" or "GIVE IT TO HIM" or "HE SHOOTS, HE SCORES!"
