He's had some gravy schedules as HC but seems to turn around the program in 3 years. I dont like his win ratio over ranked teams and we don't have 3 years. If they pay him 3 million and under we better throw some money at top tier defensive minds. If Jones bombs on his assistants he's gone in 4 years and TN will have been crap for over 15 years. Should have kept Chaney a year as HC. Not impressed.

He probably never seen a top 25 team.

Bama and Florida are laughing their ass of now.

We are ACC bound

He played the same schedules as Charlie Strong and beat CS 2 out of 3 times. Of course the fans were ready to celebrate ole Charlie being here. What!! Butch Jones!! Are you kidding me!! :eek:lol: Butch Jones is Charlie Strong for 1/2 the money. SMART business decision!!

The only saving grace will be the staff they potentially could assemble. I think you are witnessing regroup mode by large boosters and UT. This is our zook. Dooley was supposed to be and wasn't. We are not in a position to dictate terms to anyone. He needs to win one good game a year and beat Vandy and KY. He needs to not ever fail to make it to a bowl game and give enough hope to 80K to keep Neyland open for 3 years. It's not right, it's what it is. If he can at least do those things we'll revisit this fantasy with a new AD and new coach.

Turn around the program?? He followed Brian Kelly!!

Yah... I was waiting for this response, because it was my first thought. Though, I admit I'm not exactly knowledgeable enough to be convinced of my opinion. I will hope for the best...

Erm........

Hopefully, winning will bring us confidence.

Zook took over for Spurrier and had talent returning.

Jones takes over for Dooley and we don't SEC talent.

This. I think whatever you want to believe big boosters and the AD went cheap and punted this problem down the road to see if the market and money is better. Dooley couldn't even win enough games to be a zook and further sunk us to the point where every great coach is scared to death of dealing with us.

Pick a decent but not great coach, envison those results...that's all I am saying he needs to do. That's what we should have been doing. It's reset part 2.

He's playing Duke in the Belk Bowl....I'm sorry but TN can't make this hire. I'm amazed we did this. It would have been cheaper to keep Chaney as HC and pay down the assistant debt for 1 year. "Butch Jones" isn't going to fill the seats anymore than Chaney next year.
