Too all of you bashing coach Jones.

Your either with us or against us!

Just Stfu and quiet crying! The coach will get it done we need stability with all the coaches! This is some of are problem now. You can't just go and fire a coach every year.

Also you make losing much worse than it should be!

I would almost bet that you all could run a coach off. Were do you thank or why you thank he said he gave up so much to come here! They read this ****!

Face it!

Everyone needs to chill out. Before the season, due to our schedule and lack of talent most people predicted we would win 5 or 6 games. Well, guess what, our schedule is actually more difficult than anticipated as nobody predicted AU and Mizzou to be top 10 teams. And guess what, we're going to still win 5 or 6 games with one upset win over a top 10 team. Brick by brick, CBJ will get it done. # 2 ranked incoming recruiting class is a great start. Changing the culture of " losing" among current players will take more time. Chill out!

I could have sworn I heard Fulmer! "Get back to work" and "work on recruiting" reminds me so much of "work like heck" and "our recruiting class"! This is such B.S. coach Jones.. All you are "getting" is money!

And wish we could have that one back.

Full context:

"But I know exactly where we are at in our football program and what we need to do to move forward and get better.

And I will tell you this, and you can write this:

We will get it done. This place is too special.

You know the only variable we have is time. And somebody said, why the heck are you doing that?

Because I believe in it. I believe in Tennessee Football, I believe in our fan base, I gave up a lot to come here because I want to be part of building something special and having that responsibility of getting Tennessee Football back. And I love Tennessee."

I don't know about you, but how can you not like this guy?

I can offer some reasons why you might not like the guy in terms of him as our coach....if you want me to be objective I can offer some thoughts...obviously I don't know him other than his public persona and my 'take' from one meeting with him in attendance, a relatively small affair with 12 or so people at which he spoke extemporaneously and from a prepared text...this meeting was early in his tenure and and I know for a fact that 2 of the 3 university affiliated people accompanying him were embarrassed by his performance that afternoon...

Obviously he's not very bright, he's disingenuous, prone to recite old tried and true coach speak, hyperbolic, no vision, no creativity, and I seriously doubt he's ever had an original thought in his life...

He does have a formula, a shtick if you will the ability to inspire people of a certain ilk.....he may be able to win some football games but he's certainly not the kind of person I want representing my university...

Really? All he gave up was a lower echelon job for a more prestigious one paying way more bucks. He's D2 coach, at best.:hi:

So you have met him "one time" and came to the conclusion he's not the kind of person you want representing your University? How so? Have you ever met Cheek or DePetrio? These are the people you hold be worried about " representing your University"

Don't miss take what was said we all know Tennessee is a good place to be and he knows that and I almost would bet that if he had stayed at Cincinnati he would.be in the running for the USC or Texas job or any other big name job.

Also I allready know how you feel your one of those that expected a miracle and point a finger at him and say he can't do it all while not thinking about what has happened to this place in the last 4 years or the hell of a schedule we have played to this point.

Pretty much we got the same players but different names that fulmer kiffin and Dooley could only go 5-6 7-6 6-7 with.

What Butch is doing is a culture change with recruits and a system and that takes more than 10 games to do! I almost guarantee next year with the class coming in will be better! and better days are ahead.

What you need sly and about.half.of volnation. is patients!

How do you know he will get it done; precog? You don't, you're merely hoping. And ridiculously over-animated. I can't make out the rest...

Obviously most of my thoughts are predicated on observing his actions, mannerisms and words (lots and lots of words) over an extended period of time...furthermore I've felt this way all along NOT after recent loses...

RE 'my life' its not bad, could be better of course.....

There is a large portion of the fanbase who felt like we took it on the chin with the Butch hire. I figured that Charlie Strong was the bottom of our barrel with a real chance of making a transcendent hire. It didn't happen and, realizing that we're probably stuck with Jones for a few years, I decided that it's counterproductive to complain about a guy losing when I didn't expect him to do much in the first place. Some folks seem to have already reached the breaking point. Others will be all Butch up until the last second of his tenure just as most of them were with Dooley. It seems like we cannot get off this hamster wheel as a a fanbase.

Your take is a fair and reasoned one....I'll add a couple of things.......the long term effect of having multiple unsuccessful recent hires has a 'futility' effect on not only our fan base but our national image as well...

People have short memories, and for many kids who will have an interest in, don't know anything about our rich heritage and winning past...their 'take' is one of losing, instability of coaches, irate and or irrational fan base, etc...

And if 89% of High School students can't name the President Vice president or their senators they won't know Peyton Manning went to Tennessee....

Yes we can.

Winning cures everything we are complaining about here.

Time will tell all.

Butch was a desperation hire by two guys (Hart and Cheek) who don't know what they are doing. David Blackburn should be the athletic director of UTK.
