"Full-padded practice, live practices and we're going to be a tough football team,” Jones said of the plan for this week as the Vols begin preparation for No. 7 Auburn. “I know this: those individuals understand that they didn't perform well and I think you've got to give your opponent credit as well.”

That's a big statement considering who we are playing. He should have waited until we played Kentucky. haha

Practicing with pads is great. Just don't want to see anyone get hurt out there

Tennessee doesn’t have the personnel to make sweeping changes on both lines. The Vols also can’t instantly become significantly stronger in the last four weeks of the season. So Jones is left with one option at this point – stress physicality and toughness in practice and rep it throughout the week.

This pretty much sums it up.

I'd really like to see this promise turn into more playing time for guys like Crowder who play to the whistle whenever they are in the game.

It is really just words if he's not willing to replace those playing soft.

The O-Line in particular needs to man up this week...and stop those freaking drive killing penalties.

Here's where I haven't really seen Dobbs get credit. Sure, he made some mistakes. But, when the O line knocked us back 5, 10, 15, Dobbs kept his head up and got that yardage back a lot of the time.

From what I've been reading about Auburn (I haven't seen them play at all this year) Our Defensive front 7 is actually where this game will be won or lost. But you are right about the O-line too.:peace2:

Kinda surprised it took a complete butt whooping in Mizzou to decide to get back in pads. You play like you practice.

BINGO!!!! Finally I hear something coming from CBJ that needs to be changed. All this crap over and over about, we're too slow, our 4 star linemen with all kinds of experience all suck, next year it'll be different because all 30 of the 2014 class will be superstars. It all starts with toughness and being physical, the big uglies up front. Most important is the attitude from the staff, preach it everyday, play it on the field, Tennessee has been pushed around on the line for over a decade both sides of the ball and thats the number one problem. If you can run the ball no matter what the defense is doing, you can throw the ball better, your defense gets more rest. If you stop the run on D with linemen, your lbs can help in coverage, if we get a pass rush for ONCE it helps the dbs. It starts up front, period and Im not sold that we have enough linemen in this 2014 class. Run the damn ball and stop the run!!!! It starts with an attitude and the staff preaching it over and over. I hate Kiffin as much as the next but he preached it. I still remember four straight runs into the middle of the line late against UCLA and we all thought how the hell can you do that, but its saying if we cant man up and blow them off the ball we lose and lord knows we've done our share of losing the last 6 years!!!

I would rather he returned "effective tackling technique" and "proper positioning in coverage" to Tennessee first.

We need headhunters

We need guys that hate the other team

We need guys that would rather smash their nuts with a sledge hammer, than give up a first down

When UT does get a pass rush, the QB tends to scramble for 15 or hit a WR down field right as the QB runs out of bounds. Only exception to this was maybe USCe & UGA games - and there were still a few big qb keeper plays. UT struggles so damn hard with containing the QB.
