Jones Wants bigger plays on offense

That was the most troubling thing about the win over AP. You just don't see big play makers that can be game changers.

We have playmakers. North was running wide open for big plays if Worley could have gotten it to him. One bomb North was running all alone down the middle and Worley badly underthrew him and couldnt get back to catch it then on the catch he made at the goal line if he hits him in stride its a TD. North easily could have had atleast 6we catches and well over 100 yards. He has to hit his receivers for those kinds of plays starting this week, he really doesnt have much arm strength. Dont see Worley lasting as starter all season, especially if he misses passes like that all the time. But as they say the biggest improvements are from week 1 and 2 so we will see Sat.

3 of us. I hope before long that Riley Ferguson gets a shot. I think he has the best arm strength and he runs alot better than Worley

True but north still has to make some of those catches.

CBJ was asked about those plays, and said "that North made the cut on his route too soon and that was why the ball seemed to be behind him."

The way the plays are scripted, if one part is not done correctly it may not be completed. It's easy to look at an incomplete pass play and say it is the QB's fault.

We can't really tell, but the coaches know. I'll trust them to get it corrected.

everyone knows the offense we ran against AP was as vanilla as it gets. it will be interesting to see if we open it up a little more against WKU, I hope we don't have to, if we can beat WKU without showing anything it would give us a little advantage going in to Oregon

You seemed to have actually listened to what Jones said... What's wrong with you?:whistling: Don't you know that you are supposed to ignore what the coach actually says and take shots at Worley anyway?

We should be able to beat WKU by pounding the rock and only taking a few shots deep. Hopefully, we can keep it close to vest before heading into Autzen.

Ill leave that up to the coaches. If Ferguson gave us the best chance to win, he would be playing.

Thank you. Finally some common sense. Butch pulled his starter last year when they were 6-2, meaning he's constantly developing, constantly evaluating his QBs. He also is doing everything he can to win, which means he's gonna play the best players which give him the best chance to win. Its why he has true freshmen at WR and CB starting and why McNeil is starting over Moore at safety. All this goes double for the QB.

[Video] Butch Jones wants Vols to make a bigger splash on offense » GoVolsXtra
Talks about how worley missed some big throws down the field, and how you have to have big plays to win in the sec. You cant just play a perfect game and win you have to have big plays

Did CBJ use the actual words "can't play a perfect game and win" because that doesn't make any sense. Yeah you can play a very imperfect game and win with big plays but how do you play a perfect game and still lose?

I know Ferguson was with the second team but he looked like he was a long way behind Worley. IMO.

Yes you could tell by decision making. He kept the ball when he should have handed it off, handed the ball off when he should have kept it. he has to get better with his reads.

I heard that quote but can't recall verbatim the precise verbiage that he used. The impression that I got from his statement was that you can't realistically expect to execute flawlessly on every play. Although you want to sustain drives, it is just as important to have quick strike, big-play capability in order to win consistently.
