As a public school teacher, IMO, history is a pass along class entirely now. History teachers cannot afford to fail kids. They will be non renewed displaced etc. There is so much pressure from No Child left Behind on Math and LA. A principal does not want to see high fail rates from a history teacher. His job depends on getting these kids diplomas.

This was most of the kids at my school too. But, I was in the AP history class my junior year and even it was a joke. A kid plagiarized a report completely and they gave him a chance to make it up even though to take AP courses we sign a document saying we cheat we fail immediately.
