Jordan Matthews in the portal

Not too surprised by this one…bummed because I had high hopes for him…but not surprised…

Buried on the depth chart with everyone coming back, Beasley and Goree progressing and four newcomers that the coaches like a lot…a fresh start might be good for him

Kids come in, train, learn the system, bond, challenge one another, then when they don't measure up to their own expectations, they go to the portal. They do this only to repeat what they went through all over again at another school. We are in the 1st CFP and on the cusp of a NC. Why not work harder to get the playing time you want instead of running. Adversity just snatches the souls of kids these days.

All that stuff you said sounds good to old people, but these kids are going to go where they can play, not watch. The whole "cusp of a national championship" stuff requires a wild extrapolation of the available data to believe. We weren't even on the cusp of winning the SEC....

I can’t beat out the starter…., I gotta transfer
He couldn’t beat the backup either.

Guy had all the measurements:
6’2 185 lbs 10.7 100 meter speed.

But he would get beat over and over again in practice. I think he should have stuck it out and elevated his play. Lord knows he has the physical talent. Don’t know if it’s going to get developed somewhere else.

So are all the kids we take as transfers also scared of adversity? Not committed to finishing what they started?

Talking down the CB4 for transferring for a better opportunity when we actively take in transfers for the same reason is shamelessly hypocritical.
