Did it get burned tonight? I had a hunch he didn't play last game because he was going to get redshirted (heard something about 6 games).

yes it's burned. I'm glad we're not redshirting him though, it gives us another long athletic player.

i didnt think he was getting redshirted, but even redshirts can play very small amounts i think but the only reason he got any PT was that maymon some how was eligable tonight but he will be from now on.

Once a player steps on the floor for one second in one game, he cannot redshirt unless a season-ending injury comes into play.

Since this team has a chance to make a deep tourney run, I prefer to not redshirt him. It should be all hands on deck. We may really need him at some point.

That's not quite true. In basketball, you can play at the very beginning of the season. I'm not sure what the cut-off is, but I know we are past it.

kamoshika's response above is correct...if you play at all your redshirt is burnt. However, there is an exception for a medical redshirt if you play a limited number of games at the beginning of the year. Of course, the player has to fake a season ending injury for this to be the case.

What was the deal with Tatum his freshman year? Did he get hurt so he got a medical redshirt?

Guys please read about basketball redshirting before you post saying, if a player steps on the court its burned, because that is incorrect in basketball, however, correct in football.

I stand corrected. I thought you could play the first week or so, and other VN posters were posting after the MTSU game that the cut-off was the 6th game, and that was seen as the reason McRae didn't play against MTSU.
