Pretty much guarantees he'll be at Vandy. "Lucky" break for the 'Dores.

Also, Kyle Serrano threw a no-hitter tonight against Bearden.

Hate that for the kid. May never get back and almost assures he will be a nonfactor next year.

Any idea on KS velocity?

Hate to hear that about Sheffield. Here's hoping for a quick and full recovery.

Along with Eric Freeman of Farragut that makes two of the state's best Sr pitchers out after Tommy John surgery. Freeman missed the tournament season last year and had TJ surgery in June. He's headed to UT next year.

Not sure about the gun but Kyle was dominant.....again. Heard there were a lot of MLB scouts were in attendance tonight.

Definitely is a tough blow for the kid, but he's going to Dr. Andrews for the procedure, I'm sure he'll get right back on the horse in a year or so. Quite possibly could be back for the stretch next year for Vandy. Such a high velocity guy, I bet he redshirts, though.

I don't know about Kyle's velo.

I was behind the scouts and there was a true buzz about Kyle. He was throwing 91-94 and I saw one 95. Most amazing thing is how well he pitches and his CB is great and hard. Not good for Tennessee getting him IMO.

TJ surgery is so common now, it might be an advantage to having already had the surgery. I don't know that it will hurt his draft stock that much.

Thanks. I posted this before but anything less than 1st round money and he better go to school for his Dads sake. He has to be able to convince other kids that's school is the best option.

It destroys his draft status for this year and that isn't even debatable.

Why? If the kid is going to Andrews, he's obviously getting the best of the best. He should be throwing again a year from now, and could come back stronger than before.

Sheffield has had arm issues the last 2 seasons, which I'm sure is well known amongst the MLB scouts. If his status was high before, I'm sure they were considering the fact that TJ surgery was very likely in his future. All this does is speed up the process.

Anyone signed with Vandy, whether accurate or not, has the perception of having signing issues. He will drop like a rock in draft stock and drop twice as far in the draft due to impossible signability. He's just not worth his potential right now market-wise and he won't go pro for a discount. He's going to Vandy. MLB will get another shot in 3 years.

It's about the amount of money he would have needed to stay away from vandy. Organizations won't invest that much in a signing bonus with the surgery issues.

Sheffield would be better off going pro, IMO. He has attitude and work ethic issues. Guys like that usually get drafted higher out of HS than they do after 3 years of college.

giolito's situation was different than Sheffield. Giolito didnt have Tommy John surgery until after the draft. When he was drafted, scouts only thought he had just a slight strain and that surgery wasnt needed.

It was more serious than a slightly sprain and tj was speculated on.

yes, they knew TJ surgery was a possibility, but far from a given as evidenced by them wheeling him out for a Gulf Coast League start after resting his arm. its still a different scenario from Sheffield who is definitely having the surgery.

Heard Dr. Andrews performed the procedure and given his outstanding history, MLB is still interested in Sheffield. This is what is being passed along in T-Town. Personally I think MLB or Vandy doesnt want to drop the ball on Jordan because a year from now both will face almost the same predicament on Justice. mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=25872391&topic_id...
