Your a loon if you think we couldn't of used him this year.
In addition to employing the parents of ku players, Compton also has a son who is the video manager for the team. In a very unique situation, this video manager is the roommate of a basketball player from Baltimore. High profile recruit Josh Selby rooms not with his teammates, but the son of a multi-millionaire. Doug Compton Jr. would be a rather fine roommate to have if you wanted lots of nice things and needed to borrow some spending money.
Not sure you can afford his lifestyle.CBS Sports reports that key ku recruit Josh Selby, the #1 recruit in the nation per Rivals, has questions about legitimacy of his amateur status. The questions arise from his relationship with the business manager for NBA star Carmelo Anthony
I thought Selby was more of a slasher than he showed against VCU. He kind of reminded of ole Super John Williamson who played back in the day with the Nets. His body was bulky, similar to JW.
That is what Self thought and was expecting when he recruited him. KU's starting five was supposed to be (1-5) Selby, Taylor, Reed, Morris, and Morris. Having Reed and Morningstar on the court at the same time for KU is only acceptable when both are hitting shots. They were both too one-dimensional to do anything else.
He really did not seem to be as talented with the ball in his hands as my understanding of his talents led me to believe. Is he just more of a scorer, period, than a drive to the basket kind of guy. I do understand that anybody can have an off day. Also, he did have a leg injury earlier in the year, right? he just seemed to be a 1/2 step slow compared to the VCU kids. Of course, Rodriguez makes a ton of kids look slow.
He was supposed to be pretty complete, both a shooter and a slasher. Unfortunately, he ended up being neither.
A lot of people claim that his leg injury hampered him in the latter half of the season, as he had decent numbers to start the season. However, he also played tougher competition in the latter half of the season.
He wasn't in the city, the state or the time zone. He was in Las Vegas. He still is. Selby's seen as a potential first-round draft pick, so he's currently missing classes (shocker!) and choosing to train/test the waters out in Sin City.
Selby's disappointing college career bad sign for pro future - NCAA Division I Mens Basketball - CBSSports.comBut certainly hes going to salvage the semester academically and pass his classes, which is good.
Self has to hope that's true, because Self could face punishments from the NCAA down the road if Selby doesn't fulfill his academic obligations (it wouldn't just be on Selby; the issue would be compiled if other KU players didn't graduate/had bad grades/stopped going to class).
. You think Selby wants to try to explain to the NCAA how he has been paying to train in Las Vegas for the past week?
"He's drawing lots of Willie Warren comparisons," DraftExpress.com's Jonathan Givony said.
All together now ... Yikes
