I know there have been times that his play has been very frustrating for all of us (the game before this one, for example), and others where he has played great, but I for one will never forget him for this game.

Thank you, JP, for a job well done today. You have tipped the scales of legacy mightily in your favor.

I have been a huge critic of JP since he first got here. A lot of my concerns are still there, but he came up huge today. Kudos JP

Great job, JP. We need you the rest of the way if we are going to win the SEC and go deep in the NCAA tournament! Great job!!!!!!!!

I agree we need him...the things that turn me off on JP is that he acts like he has never been there......in other words: dont raise your jersey when you make a dunk, dont give three fingers in the air when you finally after 29 attempts nail a three, and for goodness sakes dont argue with the referee every time you foul, walk, or step out of bounds. Otherwise you da man.......

I'm eating crow after this game because I have been of the mind that JP was more of a liability than an asset for most of the season. The truth is, when he decides to quit acting like a jacka$$ and start busting his butt, he's a heck of a ball player.

I had really high hopes for him this year, which he has not met for the most part, but he is putting it all together at the right time.

I agree with the referee part but the other things get the crowd into the game. TBA is too big and any help getting crowd participation is needed....I watch the football team get 15 yard penalties for taunting the other team over and over, year after year. That is what gets old.

Plays like he made today dont need any more attention than the play itself. It isnt becoming of a player and makes us look like we arent use to making big time plays.

It's no difference than spiking the football or raising your hands after hitting a homerun. It is just emotion and he isn't even making eye contact with the other team. I guess we just will have to agree to disagree.

Act like you are a champion and you will rise to that level. Act like a brat and you will be a loser in the long run.

lay off.... the kid plays with more emotion and heart than anyone on the team(not meant to bash the team at at all). The kid loves to represent the big orange. i will be sad to see him go

The truth is J.P. has the ability to do anything on the basketball court if he works at it. His work ethic has improved over the last year and it's showing on the court. If Tyler never goes down the J.P. doesn't get the chance to show that he can take over games against the nation's best. He has the ability to guard multiple positions, get into the passing lanes, and break people down off of the dribble. His footwork and ball handling allow him to make plays that most 6'7 guys can't. Throughout his career he showboats when he makes big plays but he's very unselfish as an offensive player and looks to hit teammates in spots where they can score. The big reason he showboats is because he's from Memphis, and Memphis basketball players play with a chip on their shoulder no matter where they go.

He's like a point forward for our club. Since Tyler left he's been the emotional leader for this team. He wears his heart on his sleeves and he's always been a guy who stepped up in big games. If there is a big-time guy on the other side of the court or a game that the nation will be watching then rest assured J.P. will make big-time plays. I think he could be a Stacy Augmon type player at the next level if he's committed to working hard. His high school coach said this about him as a junior and not much has changed.

J.P. has great size for a point guard and can jump out of the gym. He is a great passer and defender also. A lot depends on what day of the week it is. If it is a big game, then you can count on him to play really well. " -Renowned White Station head coach Terry Tippett

Hohensvial???? That dude thinks JP is no good...He is not a big fan and believes and argued that he was not "A" key to our success??

Well I did not see one thing from him today...Maybe now he has realized that JP shows up for the big games better than anyone on our team! Which makes him a HUGE KEY to our success....

I saw enough in him that before the season I stated something to the effect that his level of play was the key to the season, like it or not. Most of the time I like the way he plays. Of course, he makes the occasional major blunder, but other than his shooting, he is a great all-around player.

Now that he is stepping up big-time, I would like to see continued improvement from Williams and Tatum. If we can get that, I am believing that we will surprise in the NCAA's.

I've been a critic of J.P. this season.....He played his rear-end off yesterday, as good or better than anyone on the floor....He still needs to get back on defense when he does make a great play and quit saluting the crowd or playing to the camera....We all know what he could be if he decided he wanted to be great and not just think he is...I'm going to start giving him a pass on the whining to the ref after EVERY foul called on him because the whole team does it...I'll blame that on the coach...He (Pearl) could stop that mess...It could be the reason the Vols continue to get bogus fouls called on them...

Let's see what he does against Arkansas.....
