I know some names have been thrown around...some we were supposedly very interested in at one point or another (Couch, Jackson, etc.)...but are there any JUCO's other than Power that we're actively pursuing at this point?

I get the feeling that the extra required classes plus our struggles getting some JUCO's in this year has our staff backing off these guys

Couch got one of our first calls yesterday, from Dooley no less, so I'd say he's a priority. But he's the only one I know of. Seems like I was hearing about a lot more JUCO's last year, although that could be because it's still so early in the recruiting season.

At this point, UT is probably better off taking Fr and playing them.

:) I read somewhere that as many as 17 freshmen will play for the Vols this year. That experience can be really good for their development. Although with only being able to sign 26-28 players in 2011, I think they will need to sign some JUCO's to help with depth and shear numbers. Can't believe the first game is finally here. Let's get this season started. Whether the season is 4-8, 5-7, 6-6, or 7-5, this group of young men and the coaching staff with make us proud to be VOL fans. :dance2::clapping:

Personally I say no JUCO'S. we are supposed to be "rebuilding" I guess, so lets just bring in true freshman that are all VOL from the start.

We really want a JUCO DT but it's hard to find one who can qualify at a SEC school.

It is harder to find one that is any good wouldn't you say? Doubly hard when you put the qualifying requirements in.

LV, who are the guys being lost after this year. Who am I missing?

Frazier
Reviez
Thompson
Walker
Williams
Jones
Moore
Pope
Shaw
Stocker
Cunningham
Lincoln
Cooper
Thomas

The guys stepping up behind them are going to be true experienced Sophs and Jrs. IMHO, the future of the program is better served with another round of playing Fr in key two deep roles.

Cornbread Yokelsuck has Left Northwestern Wright State JC.. He says he has narrowed his list to 25 Including Lsu, Osu, Byu, Ucla, Usc,Penn State and a few others. He has not mentioned UT but I think we may have a shot. He thinks he might Visit a few schools later in the fall but can't say for sure. He will trim his list to 14 two days before NSD.

He is 6'1" and 205lbs. Ya'll think we can add 80lbs to him and make him a DT?

Ya'll think we have a shot??????LOL:post-4-1090547912:

Jesse Williams. He received a call from the Vol staff early yesterday morning. It appears he is a top target.

If we were to somehow land him and Couch, we could compete for the SEC east next year.

Next year's team is just lacking DT and TE depth. The OL will be a year older and finally have depth everywhere, the WRs will be lethal, the RBs will still be stacked.

With next year's schedule, if we were to get solid depth at DT, then it's going to be a special year.

Wr might be lethal. Jones and Moore leave after this year. That leaves ut with 4 wr. 3 of them being sophomores.

2011 will be solid.

2012 is the year that could be special.

JMO

Agreed...2011 schedule is brutal and our depth will still be very young. 2011 will definitely harden our boys and prepare them for a breakout in 2012. Our roster will be in much better shape in 2012 and we'll have a bunch of battle tested veterans and we get UF and UA at home.

Do we know for sure that Martin will get a medical redshirt?

Though it would be great if UT could afford to only take HS recruits in the 2011 class, I'm afraid the Vols may not have that luxury due to the lack of depth at DT.

Given that it typically takes a DT a year or two in the program to be a major factor, it could be difficult to count on any Freshmen in the 2011 season.

That leaves UT depending on Jeffery, Sykes and/or Clark to blossom, using Miller inside more, Hughes to remain motivated and the hope that Walls returns at 100%.

A John Brown type (with the grades, of course) would certainly be beneficial next year.
