Operation Overlord the Allied invasion of Europe began with Airborne and sea landings along the Normandy French coast. Where Six beaches on that day would forever be known as their code names for the landings Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno & Sword.

Makes me sad beyond words that that generation has almost all departed. We shall never see their like again

My Grandad jumped with B/1/508 PIR from the 82nd. Was with Gavin at La Fiere Causeway where he was wounded and captured. Germans saved his life by amputating a gangrenous arm.
