This is pretty depressing to look at but was curious and with the assumption that at the very least Martinez and Mahoney won't be back next year so I will start with those 2. But needless to say neither have pulled their weight as Coach's or recruiters. Sure do expect more coach's to be ranked higher from the best football staff in america.

Willie Martinez-6 Committs,5 are 3* & 1 is a 4*.he ranks #63 in the SEC and #216 Nationally.

Don Mahoney-2 Committs, both are 3*.he ranks #64 in the SEC and #219 Nat..

Zach Azzanni-5 committs,4 are 3* & 1 is a 4*.#29 in the SEC and #63 Nat..

Tommy Thigpen-9 committs,6 are 3* & 3 are 4*..#7 in the SEC and #14 Nat..

Robert Gillespie-7 committs,6 are 3* & 1 is a 4*..#11 SEC and #23 Nat..

Steve Stripling-5 committs,4 are 3* and 1 is a 4*..#40 SEC and #109 Nat..

Larry Scott-3 committs, all 3 are 3*.. #71 in the SEC and #261 nat..

Bob Shoop-1 committ..he is a 3*..he ranks #100 in the SEC and #481 Nat..

Mike Debord-1 commit and he is also a 3*..#101 in SEC and #498 Nat..

So from the best staff in america we only have one in the top 10 in the SEC, Tommy Thigpen and that ranks him #14 in the country. The only other coach ranked in the Nat top 25 is Robert Gillespie and he is #11 in the SEC and #23 in the nation.I really expect more from Azzani and Larry Scott. Will be curious to see the rankings after signing day. So needless to say Martinez and Mahoney not only need to be replaced by better coach's but recruiting could only get better from their replacements. That just shows that not only is the coaching on the field lacking but even worse it's just as bad in their recruiting. So Thigpen is one of only a couple must keeps as is Gillespie.Still think Scott is another one we gotta hold onto. No opinion on Striplingg either way but have no problem if Shoop wants to bring in his own D.Line guy to go with his secondary guy. Only must keep defensive coach for Shoop would be Thigpen. Mahoney has to be the first offensive coach to go. It's a close battle on what is worse his coaching or his recruiting. As something that was mentioned earlier in getting rid of Mahoney and Martinez, letting Debord take over the O.Line coaching since that is what he has spend the majority of his coaching career doing. Then throw whatever they have to at Helfrich or Applewhite to Co-OC with Debord and be the QB Coach and play caller. Helfrich and Applewhite both fall in that category of OC and QB Coach.Plus I would imagine either of them would be huge assets in recruiting and God knows we need all the help we can with recruiting. Not sure who Shoop would target as his DB Coach and DLine Coach if that is part of the plan. Would love to hear about and get an idea of what changes if any others are gonna be made outside of S&C,OLine,DB and Co-OC/QB Coaching.

Well if you read the tea leaves, that means that Thigpen will be blamed for defensive failures and let loose so we can get in a recruiter that won't embarrass the other coaches.

If Debord retires, I say pay da $$ and snag Heupel from Mizzou. He really turned that Offense around and they have a terrible OL.

Pittman, Elder, would be other good hires. Maybe Wade Phillips for the D! lol

We also need Stretch Armstrong for our next S&C Coach!

Our staff is at a disadvantage. Those services don't give enough bonus points to diamonds in the rough commits our staff lands. Who cares that they never develop, a DITR is a big get.

Yet you would be ecstatic if Butch signed a class full of instate players who you hope will be DITR instead of getting the real diamonds.

Pittman had a really bad year, even with maybe the best running backs in the SEC-Nation. They have the talent.

Thigpen I fell has always given his best at recruiting. He's most definitely our best recruiter that we have right now. The rest are questionable at best. Gillespie I would say is good enough but the others not so good with their duties.

wished Coach Scott would stop by my house...I'll point him to some local D-1 talent in the area...it's not just on the east side of the state...:)

GO VOLS!
