a few of the points he made:
1. He feels his team is still improving. They've used the nonleague schedule to integrate all of their newcomers into the program. He's pleased with the results so far.
2. Chris Warren is a "mature kid" who is "steady" and that has allowed him to step in as a freshman.
3. David Huertas is starting to get his timing back after a year off and his previous experience in an SEC program is a plus.
4. Dwayne Curtis and Jeremy Parnell have gotten themselves into the best physical conditon of their careers and it is really paying off.
5. Eneil Polynice is his most versatlile player. At 6' 5", he guards multiple positions and his rebounding has improved as he's become more comfortable in his role.
6. Tennessee is a "marquee team" and a "legitimate Final Four contender."
7. Arkansas has exceptional talent and could be a big factor come March.
8. Mississippi State will get on track. He called Jamont Gordon the "toughest matchup" in the SEC.
9. Injuries have really stunted LSU and Auburn this season.
10. Ole Miss being in the top 25 is "encouraging" for the players, because it validates their hard work and "good for the program and the university." He added that perennial top tier teams sometimes take the benefits and exposure of being ranked for granted.

I'll have more from the converation later in the day.

Some pore over statistics to scout the next opponent. Others watch film. Others read analyst views.

Hat calls the coach! Priceless

Andy is one of the brighter guys in coaching. Also, one of the most humble and genuine.

I believe you, there. He strikes me as a pretty genuine person. He was pretty forthcoming with you as well. Have you known him long, Hat?

No, I'm still an attorney/consultant. However, coaches have seen how we cover college basketball here at VN and know we're going to treat them fairly. They also like getting exposure in a rapidly growing forum. The professional look Freak has given the site makes it an attractive venue for coaches looking to get the word about their program to a broader audience.

Where would you rate him in the SEC? Will he accomplish what Donovan and Pearl and soon to be Gillispie are doing in the SEC East? With a run-down West division, is that his region to take over for the upcoming years?

The top 6 would include Pearl, Donovan, Gillispie, Kennedy, Stallings and Felton.

The bottom 6 would include Odom, Lebo, Stansbury, Brady, Pelphrey, and Gottfried.

Actually, the last one in the top 6 is hard to pick out.

I think Andy is certainly the best coach in the West. Ole Miss is the only program on that side of the league I would describe as being on solid footing.

Agreed, right now is a perfect oppurtunity for him to take over out there, which obviously, he's doing
