Has he played his lasy down at UT?

Wouldnt surprise me none if that was the last game he ever starts at UT.
This year should be Clausen the rest of the way, and next year he will probably get beat out by Johnathon Crompton. Lets face it, he's looked pretty bad the last 2 games, Crompton wont have a hard time outplaying him if thats any indication.

My goodness all this Crompton opticism is hilarious. The kid has never played a college game, and has barely even practiced as a Vol. His physical tools are not even as high as Ainge's tools. If Ainge gets his head in order Crompton will be very, very unlikely to unseat him next season.

I disagree.

Crompton was the #2 rated qb coming out of high school.
Ainge was even in the top ten.

First of all, in terms of Pro-Style QB's coming out of high school they were quite close. Not to mention, recruiting rankings change quite a bit once they get to college. The scouts had Ainge too low. I guarantee you they would say that. His physical tools (as a Pro-style drop back passer) are as good as any QB that came out of high school that year. Crompton might turn out to be a better QB (I'm not saying he won't), but physically he is smaller and doesn't have the arm that Ainge does. So, I for one, hope Ainge gets his head turned around and wins the job next season.

I think Ainge is still too afraid of making a mistake..and it's probably hard to be confident if your receivers drop two sure TD passes you put right in their hands.

His confidence goes down, it seems, when the plays aren't being made, then he tries to overcompensate to save the day.

He'll get his head right sooner or later, and be a great QB, but I guess now its Rick's job to lose, he played well yesterday.

Scout.com is probably the 3rd best recurting website for FOOTBALL. Rivals is 100x better. Scout.com is better for basketball.

Quick question. I have not seen any video footage of cromptom. What type of qb does he resemble? Does he give that scrambling ability or a pure drop back qb? Thanks.

Crompton is 6'3" 220... Ainge is 6'6" 210. He's not that much bigger... not enough to matter. JC looks REALLY good... plus he's got the confidence... I think he has 'it' like Rick. EA doesn't seem to have 'it'.

Exactly what I think.

And as far as Ainge stock going up since being in college, his stock has significantly went down this year.

I keep hearing all the talk about Ainge's arm! What arm,I just don't see it. As a matter of fact it should be described as what we use to call a rag arm. He floats the ball. NO ZIP!

So far it has, but who would you blame for that? Him? Someone else? A little bit of everything?

Ain't, or Ainge, has not been the same since the injury. He lost his nuts/guts when he got hurt. He throws off the back foot, ball sails, he is damaged goods. Send him to the hardwood with Pearl or back to Oregon. We heve no use for him anymore. Crompton is next and go get the next Clausen.

How quickly we seem to forget! What about the beginning of the season last year when we had the two young rising stars of QB land? We were all so excited about the potential of these two young men--our new young guns! Do we remember the injury in the ND game? The call that was made that led to the injury of Ainge? What happened to the young guys that our coaching staff presented with such high praise and regard? If I was in the shoes of Eric's parents, I would certainly consider evaluating what has happened to him while under the tutelage of the Tennessee coaching staff. Have his skills been honed? Has he developed in a positive way making the transition from high school into big time college football? Where is he now as a Sophomore in college?
Is it the fault of these two supposed gifted athletes that their star has fallen so low after one full season at Tennessee? Do we blame two eighteen/nineteen year olds in 2005 when the applause was deafening in 2004? I wish the best to both these kids and I hope they are able to rebound from whatever has happened to them. I also wish Rick the best as I think he will need every positive bit of energy we can give him!

I think Jon also has a special bond with the players. Remeber at the all american highschool game were he was doing some heavy recruiting for tennessee. Everyone said that they like Crompton. He just has that it factor. I wouldnt mind seeing EA play basketball but I know where he belongs, on the football field. He just has this ceartian cockness to him that I think none of the players like. you can get away with that in highschool, but not college.

He was a 2 or 3 star recruit, depending on who you looked at. But, he also never played his senior year.
