The Southern Illinois University Salukis could be a good game to start the season.

SIU Women's Basketball | Salukis opening 2021-22 season at Tennessee

Did y'all know this about Alexus Dye? It's from the article linked above.

"Harper added a heavy recruiting class to go with nine returning players, led by graduate transfer forward Alexus Dye (16.6 ppg., 12.6 rpg.) from Troy.

Dye led the NCAA in rebounding, grabbing 352, and led the country in double-doubles with 23."

She led the NCAA in rebounds and double doubles. That shows a hard worker.

Also in the article:

"Tennessee also added four outstanding freshmen, Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year Brooklyn Miles, Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year Sara Puckett, Kaiya Wynn, the Texas Class 5A Player of the Year, and 6-3 forward Karoline Striplin, who finished second in the Alabama Player of the Year voting to Puckett."

So we know we are playing SIU and Uconn in the out of conference schedule.

Likely opponents which we usually had home and home with... Notre Dame (was supposed to play last year but covid), Stanford (couldn’t travel out of state because of covid should be playing at TN to pick back up), and Texas was postponed and couldn’t be rescheduled . That’s if they are required to fulfill their part of the home and home from last year.

Possible: Indiana who wanted to do home and home with TN and a possible holiday tourney which Kellie has stated she finds a lot of value in playing those tourneys.

While i’m sure we will get some “cupcakes” those would be some seriously quality opponents and provide a good SOS.

I would also like to see a change in preseason opponent or see a second opponent that could prep the team.

Hm. Looks like impressive recruiting by Kellie.

I knew about Alexus and posted it somewhere here, expecting great things from Alexus, but don’t forget about Rae. Article says Rae was voted 24th best player in the country by ESPN.COM.

“Burrell started all 25 games for the Lady Vols last season and averaged 16.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. She shot 45.8% from the field, 40.2% from the 3-point line (a team-best 39 of 97) and 82.5% at the free-throw line (66 of 80).” The girl can shoot!

GO LADY VOLS!!!

There was only a hundred or so posts containing content on Dye so I'm pretty sure the Lady Vol fans knew of her. It's not new here. Maybe over on the Summitt where you now post a lot it's new news.
