Butch didn't lie about TN being his Dream "JOB". but he doesn't mean it's his Dream "SCHOOL".

That's the difference.

His expectations of what he wants out of a particular school is right up to par with what TN has. We have TOP notch facilities, stadium, etc...

He remind me of Bruce Pearl really. BP made a statement that "Tennessee is a place that I guy like me works all his life to get"

I just hope that CBJ is as good as what BP was.

Just curious how you know this was really his dream job. Had he stated that before this coaching search?

Yep. I've been saying the same thing down in the coaching forum. He was basically saying TN is a prestigious job that he has worked his tail off to get a crack at.

Kentucky isn't. Purdue isn't. Colorado isn't. But Tennessee is.

He may not have been my first choice but I will support him until he gives me a reason not to.

He sounds more like a coach the a BS peddler. Ill wait to jump for joy until we play a few games.

Well, he ditched UC faster than you can say "we didn't get gruden"...he obviously was licking his chops at this job prospect. Who could blame him?

Exactly. He doesn't mean it in as he's always wanted to be the coach of Tennessee, rather he's always wanted to be the coach at a big time program like Tennessee.

And I think that's okay. He will still value this job and work his tail off to be successful with this big opportunity.

He did state that he thought of Tennnessee when his team played in Neyland last year. What more can you ask for than a coach who is hungry and wants to prove he belongs?

While he was at Neyland last year, looking at the huge stadium with all its seats, all the fans, the concessions, the merchandise... he was thinking, "Gosh, I bet this coaching gig pays a lot more than UofCincy does! Wow, I wonder if Dave Hart might give me a Mike Hamilton-like contract?"

Look at Jones' new contract, then say, "Wow..." We had to pay UofCincy $1.4M to buy out Jones' contract. We gave Jones a $500K signing bonus, and a contract through 2/28/2019 for over $3M per year. If Jones is fired or forced to resign, he gets $2M a year through the end of the contract. Way to sell us out, again, Dave Hart.

Well, Jones' dream came true. GBO...... anyway.

I've had a chance to sleep on it, let it sink in, research him and the one thing that keeps coming to me is he is the one coach who really wanted to be here. I believe he will work tirelessly to get this program going. As much as Charlie waffled back and forth, had he have come here, I might have questioned his commitment to us.

It takes a certain kind of person to want to coach at Tennessee right now. I admire him for thinking he has what it takes. However, Dooley also felt this way. He also wanted to be here when he was hired and we know how that worked out. I wasn't happy with the hire, but I honestly believe that Jones feels like he has something to prove. On the other hand, the money wasn't too shabby either. I guess we'll see how it works out.
