Look, I’m not in camp Milton by any stretch of the imagination (although I do believe he should be the starter), but I really just want to appreciate two things I’ve seen in the last 2 weeks from him:

I’m not sure if too many on here have said it, but he has always given me JG vibes—seems to respond very poorly whenever he or his team makes mistakes or gets behind. And then, he never seems to be trying to rally the team in on the sidelines, never seems to be that leader that you expect any and every Vols QB to be.

Well, last week at UTSA, during the 3rd quarter lull, he apparently gathered the whole offense on the sideline and tried to kick their butts back into gear, as opposed to the week before, where he basically started to look like he had flat out given up coming out of the half. I don’t know, I just really like seeing the possibility that maybe he could wind up being a true leader on this team, rather than just the face.

The second is a lot more straight forward, but also along the same as the first.

He threw a pick, having misread Cover-3 as Cover-2, just the kind of mistake that you would expect him to start shutting down from and checking out, but he right came back and threw a bomb to Squirrel, leading us to another score on the very next drive. Later, he would throw another pick and yet, he was still locked into the game.

I’ve always said, give this man the heart of Joshua Dobbs and I think he would be the best quarterback in the country.

Now, he’s just got to clean up the interceptions during the BYE week and be the leader we need to lead this team to a big win against the Aggies on the following Saturday.

Oh and also, we’re gonna need him to use these 2 weeks to get his knee healthy enough to start running again. We’re gonna need him to get some yards on the ground if we want to make it through this gauntlet over the next month with some wins.

The mis read on the coverage is fixable on film. The other one he threw to Jacob Warren was just an underthrow. If he leads him thats a TD. Either way, looking forward to the progression this team is going to take in the bye week. Poor Cooper was needing an oxygen mask mid 2nd qtr 😂

Yesterday I was flipping channels and watched a couple of plays of the Dolphins game. On the very first play that I saw, Tua threw it right in the hands of a Bills defender. All QB's make mistakes, even Manning and Brady. In the past he did hold the ball too long, but that seems to have been fixed.

Arion Carter is coming along very well. He's smart and plays fast. Gonna be a very good LB here.

Joe is an ok QB at best. He does remind me of JG except JG was tougher. Joe will do some good things and then it's OMG what is he doing ? I just hope he can lessen the OMG moments and be the game manager that he is. My issue with him is when the running gets shut down, Joe is not going to take over the game and make things happen. I don't hate him but you can see his limitations on the field.

There is zero reason to keep stating his short comings every single day. That OK QB has UT 4-1 as the signal caller. Everyone should supporting Joe as clearly #8 isn't ready to take the reigns. Nothing about Joe's game looks like JG. Also who knows what JG would have looked like under a better staff that could properly developed guys. Let me ask this question; does UT beat Clemson without Joe ? He is clearly capable. This team was never going undefeated. Let the season unfold. There isn't a team on our schedule that strikes fear. As a matter of fact the entire SEC looks average. There is not a single wow team to this point of the season.

Based on my observations the last two games Joe has played a little worse than in the first three. The team has played better around him in the last two. I know it's a QB league and if you don't have a QB, you don't have anything, but O-line and WR performance makes a huge difference in giving your QB a chance.

He makes JG look like a clown. This is just stupid.

Your observations are completely wrong. He had some bad decisions but he was way more decisive with the ball and the offense around him responded to it. The INTs were bad but I’ll take that over the usual.

Milton was never going to be better than Hooker. Folks should have known that heading into the season.

He’s not a great QB, nor is he terrible.

He manages the offense and shows leadership. He doesn’t pout on the sidelines after a mistake nor throw off on his teammates.

Heupel has a lot of respect for Milton considering he could have easily transferred out after losing his job to Hooker.

I don’t think Milton is anywhere close to being “bad” as some on here want to assert. On physical talent he takes a back seat to nobody. He’s clearly demonstrated that’s he’s not the same level of “gamer” as Hooker was a year ago and it makes it hard to follow a really good qb like Hooker. He doesn’t make consistent snap decisions to take off running that often turn a bad play into a good play. Possibly the staff is telling him not to run, but he’s going to have to create positive plays out of bad situations if we are to beat the top teams in the SEC IMO. Whatever happens, he appears to be a good dude who is well liked by his teammates and he doesn’t embarrass the program with poor life choices. I’m pulling for him to finish strong.

He has to start carrying out the 🏃‍♂️ fakes after he hands the ball off to the RB's, he just stands there. Ther were so many times he could've gained positive yards, to keeps defenses form stacking the box. The defenses are going to hurt our RB's cause they know he not going run. This is not a true RPO offense until he runs the ball to open up the the lanes. Let's go Joe, get your legs going.

SC is also ranked almost dead last in passing defense

What does “I am not in camp Milton” even mean… sometimes this fan base kills me im camp anybody who is on the field repping the power T… I root for whoever is on that field as we all should I hope joe continues to improve throughout the season big stretch of games coming up after the bye.
I have a feeling you understand it perfectly well. It simply means that I am not going to pretend like he’s the best thing since sliced bread. He’s a decent quarterback and of course, I root for him, just the same as you. Sorry if that wasn’t clear, you know, since I made a post about giving him props and all…

I found the interceptions encouraging. JG didn't throw interceptions because he made sure the receiver was wide open. He took sacks because he didn't throw people open. Joe misread coverage on the 1st interception, but he will learn from that. The 2nd one was a 50/50 ball or more like 75/25, but the DB got his eyes on the ball. He had previously thrown a TD to Warren that was in tight coverage. He also threw that one up that Squirrel caught and it would have been interference had he not caught it. Kudos to the ref for not bothering with the formality of throwing a meaningless flag. I really liked that officiating crew BTW.
