Looking at their schedule, with 5 starters returning on both sides of the ball, I'm predicting 8-4 for the water lizards.
I mentioned in another thread that Mullen was asked a question about Huepel and I thought he had some positive, supportive things to say about him.
Regarding 8-4 for Florida, maybe. Although I’m trying to figure out “5 returning starters on both sides of the ball” thing. Not sure how they tally that but I know for a fact UF returns on defense Carter, Elam, Dean, Miller, Diabate, Burney, Moon, Cox, Bogle who have all started and played a ton, and I’m probably missing a few. Transfers Shelton and Newkirk also started multiple games, multiples years at other schools. That’s 11 guys on defense.
On offense, 4 OL return who have started multiple games over multiple years. Starting RB’s Pierce and Davis return. Copeland has numerous games starting at WR. Shorter has starts at WR and at Penn St. Kemore Gamble has numerous starts at TE before Pitts burst onto the scene and while Pitts was out last year. That’s 9 guys on offense.
If the defense sucks again, 8-4. If the defense is back to 2019 form, 10 or 11 wins is possible.
If defense sucks again (your words), might be looking at 7-5.
If the defense gets back on track, we can probably do a little better...Bama and Georgia are the only games I strongly believe we won't win, but roadies to Kentucky and LSU could also be big trouble.
You know, even though we've historically dominated teams like that, often times by significant margins, there's been a notable amount of times that even Stephen Orr struggled with the likes of Vandy and Kentucky...I distinctly remember that the same night y'all lost to Memphis State we fiddle effed around with Vandy and only won by one score, (can't remember if it was 3 or 7) and that team won the national championship. Then that’s just coaching.
