I was out during the game & couldn’t watch. After the meltdown many had , I had to watch it. Here are my thoughts:
1. Joe missed several open passes. He’s not the first & wont be the last. HH missed some throws also.
2. WRs dropped several balls also. Overall, I can’t recall a worse game by WRs collectively at Tennessee. Drops, fumbled, penalties. Every one seemed to have something bad.
3. Officiating crew was horrible & somewhat biased even thou that was a SEC crew. Maybe the penalties will help clean up play by WRs. Rather see them vs AP than Sat night.
4. Defense speed is impressive just like last week. I’m afraid we’re still soft at CB but hopefully not playing Young, etc from LY might help. Rattler can scare us if Vols can’t get to him.
5. I don’t understand kicking for the corner when you can kick it in the end zone. Not worth the risk of the penalty for kicking outta bounds.
6. Smalls dropped a huge play on the screen pass. Again, Joe should have had 300 yds AGAIN if the players just make plays that are there.
7. AP played & coached their heart out. Vol mistakes kept it respectable thou. Should have won by st least 40.

We were off against AP…both mentally and execution wise. Several new pieces this offense is trying to work in to find some cohesiveness. 2 games to find those exact pieces….time to find them and raise the sails…

You effectively cut the width of the field in half defensively, and we're evidently confident we can make them start further back than the 25 every time---plus the occasional blocking penalty added on.

I feel sure it's based on statistics. Kickoff placement should not be that hard. No rush, no snap, just like the hundred kicks made in practice each week.

Yeah I get it but so far we’re 0-3 with offenses starting in great field position. That needs to stop one way or the other starting this week

Just watched it again too. They literally ran about 6 plays. Joe was about a 1/2 step off at times. Refs, well I guess Vegas is gonna cover their money on the **** games…calls were really horrible only for TN

Did you notice how 5 throws possibly cost us 21 points straight out of the gate. Milton started the game 1 for 6 he missed 5 in a row outside of the one that Thornton just drop had the other 4 been on target and not behind we would have been up 21-3 after the first 3 drives. What I am hoping is they will be more focused against Florida. The throws from last year are still there Milton is just not leading his receiver to the ball but a tad behind.

Given the opponent I am surprised how into the game the crowd was. Seemed really loud on replay. That said it seems like we got no breaks at all, that could have been a 45-10 type of game.
Happy our defense has taken a step forward this year. We are gonna need it Saturday. I expect it to be a close one...
