I have not read this anywhere but I over heard a few (so called) vol fans that the offense knew Cal's defensive play calling from the side line and thats how they were able to score so often. Has anyone else heard that??? I thought it was a bunch of bull. I give them full credit for everything and I hope they keep scorring touchdowns...

Umm the reason we scored so much is this...

"There's their crappy DB. Ainge, throw there."

Can we please put this to rest? Anybody that's been around football very much can at least somewhat read a defense.

Welcome. This is the talk, but it is being blown out of proportion. So what if we knew playcalls for sure. You can read the DBs to tell what coverage they are in. They left that freshman on an island against one of our two best WR, what'd they THINK would happen?

Any coaching staff that does it's homework will know what plays they are going to do anyway. We won we beat a #9 ranked team. GO VOLS!!!!!!

Excuses, excuses, excuses! The reason Cal got stomped is that they were outplayed, outrun, outpassed and outcoached. The power was not in their offense. The speed was not in their offense or defense. Their offense was about as creative as a POP WARNER team. A Pop Warner quaterback could have read their defensive strategy and alignment.

Most SEC teams do their walk-throughs in practice faster that Cal ran their plays in the game.

The CAL Whiners should take comfort in the fact that Coach Fulmer called the dogs off. Had he not, the score would have likely been 50-0 and half of Tedford's team would have been left out for the rest of the season.

Having watched the Oregon vs. Boise State game last evening, I can say the PAC-10 is not a real football contender, excep possibly for USC. ONE TEAM DOES NOT A CONFERENCE MAKE!!!!!!

GO VOLS, POUND THE ROCK AND RUN TO VICTORY

Is there some hint of cheating to know the plays? I don't get it. There's reading the defense and preparing based on film. Is someone out there saying that UT had an illegitimate means of knowing what Cal was going to do? I haven't heard anything about that, but is that what people are saying/speculating on?

Its not hard to read a defense, most people can do it from home watching the tv. Cal was out coached out classed and out played.

Well, we've been all over this "stealing signals" topic, which is much ado about nothing. But the best response was this one (sorry, can't remember who posted it):

First guy posted this:

Interesting tidbit from Tennesean....

Tennessee receiver coach Trooper Taylor said offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe and quarterback Rick Clausen were able to pick up Cal's defensive backfield signals from the sideline, which led to the Vols' 21-point, third-quarter outburst.

Second guy posted this:

I wonder what the signal was for "Tackle like a girl"?

lame duck for an excuse if you ask me. you cant forget that ainge had absolutely no pressure all game long and i dont care if ainge had a direct link with to the Cal's defensive cord. in his helmet. any good QB with that much time and has done their homework will pick u apart. we are just too athletic for the slower pac10 WEAKfense.

And I have already stated that no Pac-10 defense has looked good so far this season, with the exceptions of USC, UCLA and Oregon.

I guess stealing their defensive signals made them forget how to tackle on defense and how to block on offense, right?

It also made our linebackers that much faster, and our receivers that much quicker...lol

If you don't watch the other coaches and try to pick up their signals, you're stupid. Cal more than likely had GA's watching UT's signals trying to figure them out. It more than likely happens every game and there's nothing unfair about it... in fact, it is part of the "game".

Do these folks really doubt that Cal knew UT would be watching their defensive signals? Whose fault is it that they weren't creative enough?
