Just curious had our losses come earlier in the year could we have made the playoffs?
I think so . Had we flipped the South Carolina game LSU game good chance of being in, yes.

nope.. the LSU game was one of our biggest wins...without that win we would have been out of the conversation once we lost to GA. With 2 L's there is no way we would or should have gotten in without being in the SECCG. A loss to LSU looks less bad sure but if they'd beaten us they would have been a 2 loss team in the SECCG and be in over us.

Two regular season losses would not give you a great chance at the playoff. So flipping when they happened would not matter.

The Georgia game was a bigger loss. It removed us from controlling what happened. It took us out of the SEC title game. The only reason we had a chance to get back in is because we started at number one in the first playoff ranking, and only fell to fifth after losing.
The South Carolina loss would not have mattered if we had beaten UGA. We would have still been in Atlanta and of course winning the SEC would have put us in the playoff. And with TCU losing the Big 12 and making the playoff, it shows that if you do lose twice that one of them had better be in your conference title game.

Of course all of that goes out the window when they go to 12 damn teams. But until then, winning your division still matters.

I think the thought is if we had the same results but the games were swapped: losing to USC in October and blowing out LSU in November. Yeah that might've done the trick to make playoffs and win Hooker the Heisman

Yeah. We suck so bad this year that we only beat Alabama Florida and LSU.

I’m still excited about what IS!!!

Watched the Tennessee - Bama game again last night.

Need some 5% on the windows the future is so bright.

Let it go. TN is judged on 3 things- Fla, Al, and GA. You got 2 of them including that long Bama streak. You won 10 games in the regular season for first time since 2003. A big bowl first time since 2000. Enjoy recruiting and enjoy the bowl game. Then remember that Ala has to stew that they lost to us till next year. Then forget about football and get the golf clubs and the fishing pole out and enjoy spring and summer.

If we lost to LSU, they're a 2 loss team that won the west and beat us and Bama. They'd be in before us.
