2020 was the year they took a step back. They lose a lot. Not saying they don’t already have a ton of talent on campus or are not recruiting more studs, but they lose a lot of proven production.
Many have been saying Bama is taking a step back for years. I really have yet to see it. They barely lost 2 games. One was to what could be considered the best team in the nation. The other was to a ranked AU while playing a backup QB.
They lose proven production every single year and it really doesnt move the needle for them. Their defense did take a hit but I dont expect next year to be like this one.
Jeudy, Ruggs, Smith and Naji Harris most likely leaving early. Those are some studs. Doubtful Tua plays again. They will be good next year, but championship good? If they couldn't pull if off this season, it may show the first crack in the dam. Face it, they had a pretty easy schedule this year - maybe that is why they couldn't close out in Auburn or LSU. If most of your games are home against cupcakes, and you go into a hostile environment and can't get up by 2 touchdowns, the choke factor comes into play when the crowd gets into it. 13 penalties and 2 pick sixes against AU? I don't think that happens in Tuscaloosa. Crowd definitely a factor. Many have been saying Bama is taking a step back for years. I really have yet to see it. They barely lost 2 games.
