Justin Hunter

Not according to Coach Butch Jones. Best hands on the team...

What is he gonna say? We keep putting him out there cause he gets open but his hands are like Clifford Franklins. He may be but so far North has shown to have the best hands by far. That is prob a Coach taking heat off his FR and defending him being out there.

Talent Gap? How would you know? He is a freshman. Plus, Justin did cost us some games. Justin Hunter is awesome. I just want to make the point that...... Maybe Josh Smith as a freshman still hasnt dropped as many passes as Hunter did last season.

What games did Hunter cost us? I remember our offense scoring high 30s and 40's last year and still lost to Miss St, GA, SCe, Mizzou and almost Troy..Our D cost us those 4 not the Offense or Hunter.

Doesn't matter how athletic you are if you can't catch and flop on the ground when you do catch it.

What games did he help us win as a junior?

NC State, Georgia State, Akron, Troy, and UK

He had over 70 receptions, 1,000 yards, and 9 tds.... I suppose he got that by dropping passes and constantly falling down?

He was the leading receiver in catches last season, he had to have helped win the ones we did and losing 4 games we scored well over 30 pts and lost had to have some help from Hunter as well..just sayn..

Hunter changed after the knee injury. Developed alligator arms and fell down in a heap when he was about to get hit across the middle. He was excellent during his freshman year but not the same player after the knee. He dropped passes he would have easily caught his freshman year. Have not seen enough of him with the Titans to know if he will ever be the same again.

No Pal. Justin dropped several passes dead on(Bray was accurate) and for a while there last season Justin tried to catch with alligator arms which if caught may have gotten us to Bowl Game. Remember??

No. They don't. Because you're trying to use logic and these negavols don't want to hear it. The sky is falling and there's nothing you can say to change their minds.

Hunter was amazing as a true freshman. He caught everything that came his way. He started his sophomore season the same way. It wasn't until he came from injury that he started dropping the football. He actually regressed as a junior Imo. He just played tentative from that point on. Not just drops but falling on the ground as soon as he caught the ball. When he caught the ball. But it's easy to sit here and criticize him. He stayed health and got paid. Can't really hate on him too much for that.

He definitely played not to get hurt and prepare for his pro career but still had a good year, especially with an even better talent lining up down from him in CP, plus Rogers had a great SR yr as did Rivera.

Considering he caught a game-winner a few weeks ago, I think he's going to be an alright WR for the Titans.

I think Smith will be a good one - rather than Hunter - I would equate him more to A. Rodgers who had a few drops and then last year caught everything. He will get better - seems pretty good at finding seams - just needs to adapt to college quarterbacks and college dbs.

Dropped more passes as a Junior than Josh Smith has as a Freshman. Many times, Justin couldn't have caught a beach ball. We lost games as a result. Lets give Freshman Josh Smith some time. Not mentioning Justin had the same QB for years.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Hunter caught more passes as a junior than all but one Vol in the history of program.

Which games did Hunter cost us? I didn't know his drops were to blame for our defense giving up 40 points per game.

Some big wins there huh? How'd he do against UGA, UF, USCe, Bama, Vandy

I've discussed this ad nauseum and broke it down game by game but I'm not doing that all over again.

Through 8 SEC games he had 560 yds and 2 TDs

Those 2 TDs came against UK and Mizzou

Not exactly spectacular.

He was great as a freshman and sophmore pre injury. He sandbagged against the real competition and padded stats against weak competition as a junior.

He was also coming off a knee surgery and still made more plays than josh smith ever will. Come on no comparison. With that being said i hope the kid turns it around and has a nice college career.

How many more times was Hunter targeted? You're going to have a few more drops when you have a lot more targets.

By the way I agree with what you're saying. People are giving up on smith way to early. He's a true freshman that's getting thrown into the action b4 he's really ready and I'm sure things seem like they are going 1000 mph to him.

UF- 5 receptions for 76 yards. Despite only catching one pass in 2011 due to him tearing an ACL, he had a total of 9 receptions for 148 yards and 1 td.

UGA-3 receptions for 46 yards. Despite missing the 2011 game against UGA he totaled 7 receptions for 156 yards and 1 td.

USCe-Had 8 receptions for 90 yards in a 35-38 loss to the Gamecocks that was in no way his fault. Missed the 11' game due to an ACL tear and did not record any catches in the 10' game.

Bama-Had 4 receptions for 70 yards against the one of the best defenses in the land. Missed the 2011 game due to an ACL tear and did not record any receptions as a freshman in 2010.

Vandy- Had 5 receptions for 39 yards. Despite missing the 2011 matchup, Hunter still managed 6 receptions for 54 yards and 1 td against the Commode Doors in his career.

Not too shabby.

Yep, Josh Smith is just as good as Justin Hunter, because they both dropped passes. Just like Dooley was just as good as Saban because Saban lost that one game to Louisiana Monroe. The "logic" folks use here is quite often amazing.
