Okay. So from Day 1 I'll offer you freshman Justin Hunter or freshman Josh Smith. Who are you going to take?

Yeah. It's not close.

And I love Josh Smith. But it's not close.

There's a huge talent gap between those two, you cant really compare them. And, while its true Justin dropped a few passes, he also made miraculous catches throughout his career and had td teceptions against numerous different teams. Plus I don't remember him costing us any games.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Josh is nowhere near Hunter's level of talent.

Now that people have said he will never be as good as Justin Hunter, I really want him to blow up and just be amazing. If he gets amazing hands + always being open, it could be loltastic.

Talent Gap? How would you know? He is a freshman. Plus, Justin did cost us some games. Justin Hunter is awesome. I just want to make the point that...... Maybe Josh Smith as a freshman still hasnt dropped as many passes as Hunter did last season.

Are you related to him?

I honestly think JH dropped a few passes on purpose to protect his legs after he had his kid. It's not a matter of whether he's a VFL or not, but he's a 22 year old kid with a kid. If there is a choice between gain 10 yards and risk losing my NFL career or drop the pass, I am going to drop the pass.

We all do, but he really needs to work on catching the ball first.

UF- 5 receptions for 76 yards. Despite only catching one pass in 2011 due to him tearing an ACL, he had a total of 9 receptions for 148 yards and 1 td.

UGA-3 receptions for 46 yards. Despite missing the 2011 game against UGA he totaled 7 receptions for 156 yards and 1 td.

USCe-Had 8 receptions for 90 yards in a 35-38 loss to the Gamecocks that was in no way his fault. Missed the 11' game due to an ACL tear and did not record any catches in the 10' game.

Bama-Had 4 receptions for 70 yards against the one of the best defenses in the land. Missed the 2011 game due to an ACL tear and did not record any receptions as a freshman in 2010.

Vandy- Had 5 receptions for 39 yards. Despite missing the 2011 matchup, Hunter still managed 6 receptions for 54 yards and 1 td against the Commode Doors in his career.

Not too shabby.

I said as a junior.....

Justin Hunter vs Josh Smith. Advantage Josh Smith? Is that the premise of this thread?

Look, just to clear things up I think Smith is very talented. That guy is probably the best route runner on the team, and he knows how to get open. He just needs to learn to hang on to the ball.

didn't CBJ say that he does have the best hands on the team and that he needs to get it together from practice to game play ?

No Pal. Justin dropped several passes dead on(Bray was accurate) and for a while there last season Justin tried to catch with alligator arms which if caught may have gotten us to Bowl Game. Remember??
He dropped a few throughout the course of the season, but he usually had SEVERAL catches on the day that helped to make up for the times he may have dropped one. We all know players will drop some from time to time, but Josh Smith's issues are more acute than I can remember, since Zach Rogers' early years.

He has killed a critical drive in practically every game. You can literally put money on it, now. I'd rather give the reps to Croom and bring Harris in on 4-5 WR sets. Been itching like poison ivy to see what we've got in that kid, and to see what this team can do with North, Croom and Harris in the lineup. Azzani won't let us find out, and instead plays Sir Drops-A-Lot and short receivers.

Considering he caught a game-winner a few weeks ago, I think he's going to be an alright WR for the Titans.

5 receptions for 71 yds and 2 TDs over 8 games.

Not agreat resume from a high draft pick yet.

Jury is still out.

He can't put himself into the games! When they do, he usually makes the catch when thrown his way. It's not his fault the Titans staff is ultra-conservative and scared to play a rookie. They seem happy with Washington, Wright and Williams...although I don't see Williams in the same league as Hunter.

The Titans OC Dowell Loggains doesn't do a great job of utilizing the talent he has to work with. I've not been impressed with him at all.

if Butch Jones said he has the best hands on the team, I believe him. The kid is a true freshman who has made some nice plays but also had key drops. It's usually part of the territory. He will be fine. I choose to believe the guy who spends hours a day with every player on the team and whose career is riding on who he plays .

So depressing to these responses and realizes how clueless so many of our fans are. Embarrassed.

He was the leading receiver in catches last season, he had to have helped win the ones we did and losing 4 games we scored well over 30 pts and lost had to have some help from Hunter as well..just sayn..

Hunters terrible play in the secondary cost us games when we put up 30 plus...oh wait.

Dropped more passes as a Junior than Josh Smith has as a Freshman. Many times, Justin couldn't have caught a beach ball. We lost games as a result. Lets give Freshman Josh Smith some time. Not mentioning Justin had the same QB for years.

Sorry Mr. Smith, I mean Mrs.
