Are you incapable of reading? His junior stats are in there.

And also, no you didn't.

Maybe you're incapable of reading. I said that in like 2 other posts.

You also preface them with a bunch of other crap to make it sound better

He wasnt that great AS A JUNIOR.

You did not clarify which post, next time it would be a good idea to make your intentions clear.

Anyways you have your opinion and I have mine.

Coincidentally, so did Bray. One of the big reasons we had such a good record versus ranked teams the last 3 seasons.

Justin Hunter vs Josh Smith. Advantage Josh Smith? Is that the premise of this thread?

No,read the post. I was pointing out that Hunter went through the Drops deal as an experienced junior with the not all the QB issues. J Smith's many drops reminds me of Hunter's many drops last year. Not "Better than/less than".:)

Great comparison......

Like saying Peyton had more INTs than Jim Bob Cooter.

Josh Smith has had about 15 passes thrown to him all year. Hunter caught 79 passes with 9 TDs.

Dropped more passes as a Junior than Josh Smith has as a Freshman. Many times, Justin couldn't have caught a beach ball. We lost games as a result. Lets give Freshman Josh Smith some time. Not mentioning Justin had the same QB for years.

Stop it. Justin showed great promise as a talented, very athletic WR as a freshman. Justin came on at the end of his frosh yr and i surely dont remember him losing a starting spot like Smith has as of this week.

Josh has shown a flash or two, but mostly as a freshman that he is not ready to play SEC football on Saturdays as evidenced by his multiple, team leading, weekly drops. To compare the two is just not a good idea at this point. Think Josh badly needs an offseason to progress and I think he becomes a good WR next season. He's a lost cause for the rest of this year IMO.

You're legit arguing that you can't tell a talent gap between a first round talent and a Josh smith? Just compare their freshman years.

In Hunter's freshman year he had 16 catches for 415 yds as the #3 reciever and as a starter

In 8 games Smith has 12 for 187 further down on the depth chart

You also neglect to mention Hunter had 7 td's (which is atop the UT charts for a freshman). And Hunter was not a starter, far from it actually.

Smith was actually a starter, but is no longer.

Once Justin Hunter got injured, his main focus was on preserving himself for the NFL. That's why he never even attempted to catch a pass across the middle when he came back for his junior year.

after his frosh 7 td splash, justin hunter was by far the tn player i was super-hyped about beyond anything words can describe--we've had a gazillion recent recruiting studs, too--peerless price, donte stallworth, d'arick rogers...JH11 was the absolute monster for UT in 2011, right? a total freak...

it even gave me a reason to turn my joey kent game jersey (actually bought in 2009 b/c bryce brown committed) into a Justin Hunter jersey, which was super-cool.

then he got hurt on my wedding day, when i was wearing the jersey before putting on the monkey suit...worst deflation since chuck webb...

i've never felt more sick, as i knew our team was done for the year (and it was).

still rooted for JH11 during the recovery, and all the hype about whether he'd come back full-strength or not ...

NEVER BEEN MORE DISAPPOINTED.

JH11 simply didn't care about anything except the NFL in huis junior season. it showed, and i lost all respect for him. kid simply wasn't the beast he was as a frosh/soph, and i think once u lose that hunger, you're done as an athlete.

i still root for him as a titan, and wish him the best, but JH11 should've been something way more than what happened when he decided to save himself for the NFL while 'playing' his JR season at UT.

Smith could easily have 22-23 catches for another 100-150 yds and a TD.....if he didn't drop the majority of balls thrown his way, specifically the post route that more than likely goes for about a 45 yd TD last Saturday if he'd caught a ball that hit him in his hands perfectly in stride.

And how do you figure he's been further down the depth chart. He's been listed in the 2 deep as the WR opposite North, starting nearly every game while splitting time with Croom. He's been on the field a ton.

First off, give me specifics of how many balls Justin dropped, against which team(s) and finally the circumstances in which he cost UT wins. Just don't recall.

Secondly, regarding your last statement.... If 3 passes that are thrown to a WR are perfectly places right in his hands or chest, but are thrown by 3 different passers/QBs, we're to expect those passes to be dropped? A WR can only consistently catch beautifully thrown passes from 1 QB? Don't follow.

I'm really hoping Josh gets things turned around because I think he's talented, has potential and I want UT to be successful and he's obviously going be on the field.

beach ball probably harder to catch than a football at that speed.....
