Too many unknowns to say at this point. Is anyone else leaving? Who is going to be available? One thing is clear. If UT is aggressive in the portal for OL after Spring practice, it tells me we are in big trouble.
Yea, just bite the bullet and go young. Because of COVID, NIL and the transfer portal, we’ve assembled an OL group over the last several seasons with mostly average talent but plenty of experience. And that has limited the playing time for many of the younger recruits. It’s time to get those playing time and see who's who.We only signed a handful of transfers and two of them were interior lineman. If we can’t develop even a single high schooler into a starting guard or center, that’d be a shame. Roll with the guys we have at this point
I am not mounting the bridge railing, but I have seen several posters say we need to hit the portal hard for OL. I like the roster we have. A good mix of experience (Heard, Moe, Pendleton, and Johnson III) with some good young talent (Anderson, Warren, Satterwhite, Ginther, and Perry). You are right about lots of young talent to sift through. But if we have to hit the Spring portal hard, it's not a good sign. It means portal losses and/or a lack of confidence in what we have. We shall see.I would wait and see if additions were reaches or no-brainers before mounting the bridge railing in this room. Lots of YOUNG talent to sift through so a little more experience and leadership would be nice, especially at tackle.
