Katz Says Suspension is JUST for Gamedays

He's coaching for the UCant game because it's non-conference. CBP isn't allowed to do ANYTHING with the team on those days. Here's the article from WATE:

Bruce Pearl suspended for first eight games of SEC schedule

my understanding, and that of Katz is that he can't do anything on actual gameday, but can still participate during activities on the other days of the week.

Slive's decision means Pearl will not be able to participate in team activities on the dates of the following games:

Jan. 8 - at Arkansas
Jan. 11 - vs. Florida
Jan. 15 - vs. Vanderbilt
Jan. 18. - at Georgia
Jan. 25 - vs. LSU
Jan. 29 - at Ole Miss
Feb. 3 - at Auburn
Feb. 5 - vs. Alabama

Pearl will not be allowed to participate in practices, meetings, pre-game and post-game activities, and the game itself.

This is correct. He can work with the team on any non game day, but during those game days he will be completely MIA.

My personal opinion: Might as well just let him not coach the UConn game.

Tony jones will do just fine, he is a long time Pearl assistant and this will help us in the eyes of the NCAA I believe, with self-imposed santions and now SEC sanctions.

I totally agree. Bringing BP back for one game in the middle of an eight game suspension makes no sense whatsoever. It would only disrupt the continuity between the team and TJ. I hope they don't do this.

No doubt this helps in regards to the NCAA. Smart move on Slive's part whether it was intentional or not as far as the NCAA investigation is concerned.

I don't think slive has jurisdiction like that in games that aren't solely within conference

Yes. What I am saying is might as well make it nine games (and not let him coach at UConn). It would just screw with the team in my opinion.

He doesn't, I think the poster meant if he were the university, he would hold BP out the UCONN game as well since it falls in the middle of the suspension. I could be wrong though, just my interpretation of what he was saying.

My point exactly.
