Keith Jackson steps down

Some people think he was great, but I never understood what the fuss was about.

According to John Ward and Bill Anderson he thought we were going to get blown out by Miami in the Sugar Bowl. Completely dismissive of them when they opined we would win. Haven't liked him since I learned that.

Did you like Frank Broyles?

I thought Jackson was stepping down right after we won the Fiesta Bowl. I wonder how long it'll last this time.

I just watched that game again last night and Griese dumped paper confetti on him. I think he flinched like he was going to get something wet. I did like how he said, "The moon.....is Orange."

I honestly will not miss his pro-Pac 10, pro-USC commentary. I thought he was extremely biased.
At least it evened things out... As if I didn't get enough pro-ACC, pro-Big Ten, pro-Notre Dame junk shoved in my ears I flipped the tv on anywhere else. And plenty of pro-SEC crap when I flip it to CBS.

Yep. I've heard a lot of SEC fans complain about Pac-10 appraisal. I'm just sitting here like "Dude, other than USC lately, who does ESPN pimp from the Pac-10? Nobody, they're ACC and Big Ten homers." That, combined with the fact that most east coasters don't even watch Pac-10 games, because they're on past most of your bed times. I don't think there's any right there to complain.

I, however, am constantly pelted with Big Ten/ACC/Notre Dame crap.

After that, Big XII and SEC are actually okay because there aren't really many fans of those schools outside their respective regions.

As to Jason's question re Frank Broyles, I am with Hat on that one. Also won't forget him telling us that the hole Jeff Powell ran through to get free was a "natural hole." If that is the case, why didn't we run that play more often and what defense would set up to leave a hole that big?

Keith Jackson is like bad rash. I think he'll pop again for some "guest" appearances when most of us would rather he just went away.

His favorite saying was "Whoa Nellie!" I'm liked him to an extent. Of course, you have to take everyone with a "grain of salt."
There were lots of good announcers over the year, and sadly to say most have retired or passed on. There are stilll a few left.

Had an easy listening voice but the words that came out of his mouth were for the most part unbearable. He could not call an unbiased game. Ok for PAC-10 fans but I can do without. :yuck:
