Is this the maker or breaker to our season coming up Saturday? It would look good on the resume to win this one as I don't see this team winning at Rupp this year. A win would give us 14 wins and we probably need 5 more wins including regular season and SEC Tourney to make it to the NCAA. Kentucky seemed to get rattled on the road vs Auburn so hoping for a massive crowd that can carry the guys to a win.

Almost need a win in every home game and another road win. 3 or 4 wins in the SECT will be a long shot.

Best I could possibly see us doing is 18-13 in reg season and 2-1 in tourney.

If we are 20-14 I'd say we get in.

However I'll stick with my prediction from a few weeks ago of 16-15.

Winning 2 from last years UK team was the highlight of the season. Both teams were superior to the current crop. UT has the edge in coaching every season.

Coming up at South Carolina is a game we need to win

Need to somehow go 5-4 and finish 10-8. Almost need the next 4 and 1 of the last 5 (Florida?). At Arkansas and Auburn here might be the next best opportunities. Tough road. Need a favorable draw in the SECT. I hate missing the NCAAT AND the NIT. At least with the NIT there could be another couple of home games and the MSG semis/final is kind of a cool goal.

I think the NIT is out for this team. It’s dancing or nothing. I don’t see this schedule producing enough wins without making the dance to get an NIT bid. At best there is only a one game gap between NCAA and nothing imo

Yea that seems to be the case in recent years, not a huge margin between the 2. A lot will depend on how many regular season champs in low & mid majors don’t win their conference tourneys.

What is it now, small conference regular season champs that lose their league's tournaments now get automatic buds to the NIT? Maybe that opens the door for that next level of tournaments to grow (if they aren't defunct yet... there were 2 or 3 but only one took P5s iirc).

An NIT bid for TN probably needs 2 over 500 to happen. 18-16. 17-15. 16-16 probably isn't good enough. 17-16 (1-1 in the SECT) would be a teeth grinding scenario.

Correct...any school that wins their regular season title, loses in the conference tourney, and doesn’t make the NCAAT gets an auto bid to NIT. So it is now flooded with many more LM/MM than it used to be, thus making it harder on P5 teams to make it.

Worth noting Texas at 16-16 and Arkansas at 17-15 did make it last year though.

If they can get a win in CRBs first 2 seasons here, with the roster at that time, they can certainly get win tomorrow.

As far as must wins, they’re all gonna be must wins unless UT can reel off a few in a row.

Kevin Punter & Robert Hubbs played great games vs Ky. Vols had some guys play good games today but no one played really great. And Vols never got a decent run going all day.
