Kentucky on the ropes

I called my cousin that goes to UK, and left her a message that went something like this... "I was just calling to see if you were drowning yet... you know, from all those tears being shed in Lexington." :D

I'll ignore the sour grapes, but I will say that this is the worst Wildcat team I've seen since Sutton's 13-19 team. Still, they have a chance if they can develop any sort of offense.

If Tubby has any chance of coaching here next year, it will require the hiring of an offensive coordinator. David Hobbs is lousy.

I agree - I've been a supporter of Tubby and believe him to be an excellent coach. He still has one of the top records of achievement in current BBall coaching.

This team however, is the worst I've seen since the one you refer to or Pitino's first year.

I'm beginning to wonder if Tubby doesn't also need to hire a recruiter. This team has very low talent for a Kentucky team. The offense is abysmal.

Yes it is. I turned off the game last night in the first half. It doesn't begin to pass for Kentucky basketball.

Tubby = Fulmer?

Interesting comparison. We don't put up with losing in Lexington, but if you consider "draining the Tub," who are you going to replace him with? That in mind, Tubby won't be going anywhere.

I would think quite a few big time coaches would step up to the Kentucky job, or am I missing the point here?

He could come to Tennessee and be an assistant coach to Pearl. :D

Interesting, our D is what's lousy. If we play D like we did in the first half tonight, Memphis and UF will eat our proverbial lunch.

I watched the game with a UK fan (huge). He blames Tubby for not getting recruits. You got to remember Assummi(sp) left a year early as well. Looked to me like they were having trouble utilizing Morris. This is a bad Kentucky team but they did beat Louisville so you can't count them out.

Don't forget, Morris has only been back for like a week... gotta knock that rust off. This was his first game of the season.

A bad UK team is still pretty decent. They are borderline for the tourney but will get the nod because of 1) who they are and 2) the schedule they play (UNC, Louisville, Indiana, Kansas, etc. out of conference) - in short, no other SEC team plays the non-conference schedule that UK does.

But no doubt about it - this is a bad UK team.

This UK team just has no offense at all....they don't move on offense Sparks is struggling, Crawford is struggling and Rondo doesn't have a jumper

The inside skinny is that there are major personality conflicts on the team (Between Sparks, Bradley, Rondo, and Crawford), which is causing major breakdowns on the court. On paper, this team is very much like the '05 Vol football team. They should have been much better, but failed to produce in terms of wins.

Here is the big mystery. They had four Micky D's all americans on the court at one time on Tuesday night. Problem is that Tubby is wasted too many scholarships on the post, and not enough at forward.

Gators are a comfy 15-0. Quite startling. Should be 17-0 heading into Knoxville in a week or so.

(I probably just jinxed it).

I'm excited about that UF game, but I'm not sure this UT team is ready to take on the Gators. We caught Texas by surprise, after a shelacking by Duke. We also have to go to Memphis before that game.

Yes congrats to the Gators. 15-0 is hard to achieve, with or without their #121 ranked SOS. :victory:

Actually, I think its only 126. But no matter. I think 15 straight wins, including on the road at Georgia, back to back nights versus Wake and Syracuse, plus big comeback versus FSU and a decent Miami team .... all good W's.

Really getting psyched about the Tennessee game. And then Kentucky, too. I do not expect an undefeated season. At this point, probably still looking at 5-6 losses over the rest of the season. That's okay. This is just a fun team to watch and if they catch fire at the right time, they could go deep. I am just really happy to see some positive team-oriented players this year. Enough of the guys with the wacky curls dating Playboy models.

College sports needs some humility and this team is all about that.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with dating Playboy models.
