Kentucky looks small. A team with a big man could give them real problems.

I think their starting center and another forward isn't on the trip. Supposedly the Jones guy is hobbled pretty bad and will barely play. They will be smaller than last year though, hard to replace two NBA centers.

This is correct. Both are 1st rounders next year.

They do look sloppy, but its freshmen with 10 hours of practice under their belts. Miller and Liggins looking pretty solid.

So, HWF, I didn't get a chance to watch the game. How did you feel it went? Who looked good; who didn't, and what do you guys need to work on?

I have to say Kentucky didn't look nearly as good as they looked this year. the East could go to anyone really.

Comparing freshmen with 10 hours of practice in a summer exhibition game to the finished product of 5 first round draft picks is a premature comparision to make. Of course the east could go to anyone, but the comparison is a horrible one to make at this point, IMO.

That would be on par with watching UT beat WKU by 60 something last year and assuming it meant they were going undefeated.

Final score 95-62

-Brandon Knight is fast. Not JWall fast, but not far behind either. He hit some good outside shots and had some good drives also. Put up 31 points... but just as important had 0 turnovers. Better decision making with the ball than Bledsoe or Wall had last year, at least early on.

-I will throw Liggins and Miller in together, in that they have both drastically improved in taking the ball to the basket with confidence rather than uncertainty. Liggins found the lane for multiple floaters, and Miller hit some shots and rebounded pretty aggressively at times. He has added about 15 lbs of muscle to his frame. Both were in double figures, Miller with a D/D.

-Jones only played a few minutes and injured his shoulder again and is out for the rest of the trip more than likely. Watching him go between the legs and spin bringing the ball up the floor at 6-9 was quite amazing though. Jones vs Harris should be a great treat this year.

-Lamb and Poole are athletic, but didn't show a ton of themselves in this game (unless it happened in the last 12 minutes that I missed).

-Jon Hood is coming out of his shell and looks at least like he belongs. Hit some shots, but his defense is still lacking. Had some nice break away uncontested dunks which mean absolutely nothing. But hey....

-Harrelson is in 100% better shape, but still misses easy layups and gets handled on the boards. No help coming from him.

-Defense as a whole was shoddy, but is expected in an August exhibition.

-Even with kanter and Jones healthy and playing, this team is not going to rebound like it did last year. They allowed Windsor (WTF) to sneak in for several offensive putbacks. That will improve, but it certainly is a weakness now.

-Foul trouble down low will kill us at certain points in the season.

-Heavy heavy dose of the DDM tonight. There will be no confusion as to whose team this is next season.

-Even with Dodson gone, this team will be improved from behind the arc. If not in %, at least in the number of players that can hit it with consistency.

-This may sound stupid seeing as how we started the fastest backcourt in the country last year, but this backcourt is fast too. Knight, Lamb, Poole and Liggins can all fly.

- All in all, its not a game to take much away from. Had Kanter and Jones played, it would have been a little more lopsided. I wasn't dissapointed in the potential I seen, I can say that.

Last nights game was much of the same, except it was Doron Lamb who put up 24. Knight had a double/double (points/assist).

Jones out for rest of trip with fracture in shoulder.

Although the competition level must be taken into account, the press looked great in the second half. 27 turnovers forced.
