Saban can not keep assitants to save his life.
When he left Mich St, not one followed him.

I'm sure it all due to the amount of green that clemson offered compared to saban.

there is another thread...Chris Low reported this about a week ago if not longer. Anyway, I hope ole whatshisface is considering leaving Bama too. I think Thompson is his name...I can't remember...too lazy to open another window and search for his name.

I think eventually, the instability of assistants has to hurt recruiting a little bit, especially if they are being spread around to schools that are competing with you for players.

Once TN starts winning SEC and National Titles, we will have problems keeping our assistants too.

He's probably the best recruiter in the SEC right now. You can't argue with the results.

This must have been a case of Steele not wanting to work with Saban anymore, yes? I assume if all were good between the two that Steele would not leave a rising bama program for a mediocre clemson program. Even is Clemson offered him a raise, bama would have matched to keep him--if Steele and Saban were on good terms. Apparently not.

This is a great hire by Clemson. Steele and Chavis are really good friends and are pretty similar coaches. The big difference is Steele is one of the best recruiters around. Put him and Sweeny together and I look for some big things from them. The ACC is starting to rebound a little. UNC, Miami, FSU, Clemson are all up and coming teams. VT better look out.
