Here at work listening to Kevin Sumlin talk about how they build depth through their S&C program. Says TAMU had very limited depth but their S&C program and other off season tasks contributed to their success. Thought it would be an interesting thing to post he didn't go into detail but he repeated that S&C was a huge contributor to the depth they had in year 1.

Oh yeah also talked about how the S&C program combined with their system also is a big key to their success

Wait.

So you mean a Strength & Conditioning program is a central point in a sport devoted to a player/teams strength, speed and conditioning?

This is almost as shocking as finding out hostesses flirt with recruits. I'm completely shocked.

Read my simple friend I said their S&C program for a reason also pointed out their system because our's could be similar. If you don't have any value to add to the conversation dude don't click on the thread. Please get over yourself. A holes like you is why Volnation is such a screwed up place.

So was Manziel's 5116 yards, 47 TDs and only 9 turnovers a product of TAMU's S&C program?

I believe he was posting friendly sarcasm. But to your point, S&C is huge for any program. I believe that's evident in our past 2nd half struggles.

And I really did appreciate the quick jump to ad hominem while calling me the a hole.

Also, I'm hoping Manziel is benched for a game or 2 so we can see high quality TAMU S&C without the single-best player in college football at the helm.

With that said, I'm sure 2010 Auburn had fantastic S&C with Newton as QB but that seemed to go when he went. Curious.

Where was Manziel ever mentioned in that post? Don't worry I'll wait? No where I believe. The depth they DEVELOPED at key position that didn't exist(which was the main idea of the post) prior to Sumlin's arrival is a direct product of their depth. Someone on here is an Alabama grad!(Just playing man) ! If you didn't know we are in a SIMILAR situation as they were in last year running a similar offense. The parallels are there.

How can you possibly discuss TAMUs year last year without bringing up Manziel? It's impossible.

Without him they'd have had nowhere near the offensive production. He alone created many of those opportunities. Their S&C had little to nothing to do with it.

And without that Offensive production their #57 defense would have been on the field more and abused more. Not to mention having Manziel put up so many points caused opposing offenses to be 2D.

So, long story short, you can't talk about TAMU without talking about Manziel. He was the Alpha and Omega of their entire season.

What do expect Sumlin to say? "Other than Manziel, we really blow"? It's mainly coach speak to deflect so much praise on Manziel. He's just saying other things have contributed to their success, that's all.

Strength and conditioning are big. The stronger you are, the stronger you are. If you are in better shape than your opponent, you won't be as tired as they are. That's why he's the best.

later, rednecks

The key take-away is that a high quality S&C program designed to prepare a team for an up-tempo style of play can paper over some depth issues.

The OP is hoping that this is the case for us, particularly after watching a number of games slide away in the 3rd and 4th quarter last year due to poor physical and mental conditioning.

It's a legitimate theory. We'll test it out in Eugene and see where we are.

I have a hard time believing that the S&C program was the key to their success in terms of depth. Every top program has excellent programs in place.

I seriously doubt theirs is superior to anyone's unless they are spiking their drinks with PED.

Volnation is fine...you need said a-holes for contrast to the awesomeness of the rest of us :)

Sumlin doesn't know what he is talking about. It is all about proper bathing techniques. Just ask CDD if you don't believe me.
