He's coached in College Station before...Kevin Sumlin was hired as WR Coach and eventually promoted to OC at TAMU under HCRCS. Prior to becoming HC at UH KS had already built an extensive recruiting network throughout the state of Texas.
Next step. Taking into consideration the numerous HC jobs that have recently become available this---TAMU---makes the most sense and is the right fit. Will Kevin Sumlin replace Mike Sherman? IMO, if he were to leave his present position at UH, YES!

Texas A&M AD Bill Byrne has Kevin Sumlin #1 on his short list.

I would say "BOOK IT"!

The ASU/Ole Miss/etc...talk was smoke screen until the deal was done.

SUMLIN will be announced Friday night.

Talk about having an excited fan base, going into the SEC with one of the hot young coaches heading it all up.

Exactly. Not to be taken lightly. Sumlin is an outstanding recruiter. Ask Mack Brown and Bob Stoops. With a good DC and OC TAMU will stir things up and keep it interesting in the SEC West. IMO

I wish I could say I was excited. The details of the infighting at A&M and the manner in which Coach Sherman was fired have left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Right now if I was a recruit or a candidate for the head coaching position I'd have to take a very hard look at the ethics within A&M. I'm proud of my accomplishments at A&M, but I must say, the events of the past 36 to 48 hours have left me rather disillusioned.

Care to elaborate?

Coach Sherman was in Houston, in the driveway of our star QB recruit for an in-home visit, when he was fired over the phone.

That's just scratching the surface.

Yea, I heard that. Not a good way to find out.
