Key Stat Of The Game

with a running game we would have tromped over these gaters. Good game but we need work on the o-line. Ainge did ok considering the lack of protection. Got to get it together still some tuffies on the horizon.

0 yards rushing. And you guys still had a chance to win it...that really perplexes me.

Agreed. I mentioned on here in a couple of places that it was a very frustrating game. If memory serves, we were down by ten despite the fact that we had more than twice as many first downs at that point and we had 78 yards rushing to their -2 at that time. It was very disconcerting to be behind then, all things considered.

sometimes you have to treat your passing game like the run game. why is it we ran one screen for 15 yards and didn't run another one? why is it we weren't running wide receiver screens to let them make plays?

a completed pass is as good as a run. even with the o-line playing bad, those quick passes are all you need.

Well then if I read you right, it could still be a race for the East crown. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Yeah, your short, picky throws were killing us consistently. I thought I was going to pull my hair out if you guys completed one more.:realmad:

i thought we only really nailed you on one...the quick slant that swain caught and ran down to the 1 yd line.

There are always a few games a year when a stout D gets nitpicked to death. It is usually by a team that is a little less talented. I was hoping UT would use that to frustrate the Gators. It was really their only shot. Glad to see it had you on the edge of your seat.

You are absolutely correct. Our success in the passing game were not the fruits of play-action.

I don't think i've ever seen a UT game where we had so few rushing yards and were still in the game. It perplexes me too!!! lol Congrats to the Gators. You know it kills me to say that. lol

You are not wrong. Florida has the edge now, no doubt, but Florida also has to face LSU and Auburn from the West plus UGA in the East. Thrown in the threat of upset versus 'bama or even South Carolina, and anything can happen.

I know. :) But its just one game. Nine more to go (at least). So no use dwelling, right?

no, i just posted a thread, stating that "we can either let this stick in your craw til next year or move on to next week". Hate to be on the losing end of these types of games, but that's college football and it had me on the edge of my seat the entire game. That's why it's such an awesome game

Lawgator1, you're showing a lot of class tonight. You're correct that Florida still has a lot of tough conference games left and if UT were to win out in conference play, then they wouldn't necessarily be out of the SEC East race yet. However, if we can't start successfully rushing the ball on offense or stopping the run on defense, it's not going to matter what Florida does in conference play.

CBS has us with 19 yards... not that that isn't a DESPICABLE average. If you considered the grounding calls the stat would be much bleaker.

Great front 7 for Florida. I can't believe we had so few rushing yards and I still feel we should have won the game. The roughing call was disgusting to me, he was going for Leak's arm and Leak stepped into it... Congrats local Gators. I hate being on this end of it...

It could be worse, we could have had a showing like ND or Miami... or even FSU, who lost to unranked Clemson.

Have you ever seen a game when we had this few yards rushing? That was the worst I have ever seen UT's running game. Our longest run had to be, what, 4 yards? Do you think Harrell helped tonight by playing or did it hurt us? I don't know, is him with one good arm better than a back up with two good arms?

Harrell with a bad wing is better. We obviously are lacking in depth on Defense. It caught up to us in the second half, the tackling went out the window, as did the pressure and coverage. Our guys got tired on D.

That question doesn't deserve an answer...

Well I'm proud of Harrell for sticking it up in there tonight. I wish he could have went out with a win. Had to be in a lot of pain.

UT better use the Marshall game to either find a running game or give up on it completely and find a way to protect the passer anyway.

I love the Frogg story but he was beaten on practically every play. You can't run the ball if your center is knocked 1-2 yards into the backfield on every play.
