While I haven't been over to Key West, yet, I know some people that say the Hemingway Home is pretty cool.

If you like waking up early go to 5 brothers grocery, get the Cafe Con Leche a breakfast sandwich and a local paper. The local cemetery is within walking distance, find a bench and enjoyer the morning. Go see the lighthouses, take the conch train tour. Check out No Name Pub on Big Pine Key, about 45 min away from Key West, drive slow and keep your eyes open for miniature Key Deer. Really cool animals. Enjoy my state.

Go to Duval street and enjoy. Hogs Breath Saloon and the southern most point buoy.
There is a cool bar with a beach near there too. Don't make eye contact with dudes riding bikes. :)
Have fun

If you can get into ghost tours, there's a pretty good one there. The wife made me do it, but it's creepy as all get out.

According to the girlfriend who has been thrice, if you drive, stop at Key Largo because the water is "more beautiful". If you care more about the scenery, she recommends staying there and just driving down to Key West for a day trip. In Key West, she recommends eating at Sloppy Joe's Bar where Hemingway was a frequent patron and Conch Seafood Restaurant. She also recommends renting a scooter if the weather is nice. Have fun and good luck in your travels.

haven't been to the Keys in years (80s). that said

the general Islamorada area (70s mile marker) is beautiful and worth spending some time in (south of Largo but north of Marathon and the 7 mile bridge)

Bahia Honda State Park is worth a stop and one of the few beaches in the Keys - at least natural beaches.

Key West is great but its just one part of the Keys

Laid back from mile marker 100 to 0

Drove to the Keys last summer. Great place, and I would highly suggest you go to Hemmingway's house; it was fantastic. Also, I would go snorkeling or fishing as well.

I spent a lot of time around the Islamorada area. It was great and really relaxing. Have a great trip!

The Hemingway House is a must see,,, and if you are history buff, The Little White House is a cool tour. I didn't realize the security and armed forces that was on Key West during the war. Also paying for the trolley cars is a neat way to get around the island. There are several stops that you can get off and on...you most always get a trolley driver that has a different 'tale' than the last one,,,ha

We always stay at the Crown Plaza on Duval St. It's close to everything and they have a great pool and rooftop bar.

Driving or flying into Key West? Tons of things to do if driving through the Keys. Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Big Pine, Key West. KW gets all the attention but some of the best spots are in the other parts. If you're there during a full-moon, check out the full moon party in Islamorada. If you like marine mammals, several dolphin/sea lion shows in the Keys (Theatre of the Sea- Islamorada, Dolphin Connection- Duck Key, Dolphin Research Center- by Marathon). In Key West, do the Crawl, Irish Kevin's, Mallory Square Sunset Celebrations, Hemingways 6-toed cats. The best places are the small hole-in-the wall bars/restaurants, not the chains (Hard Rock, Margaritaville, etc.).

Used to live there, have fun, it's a great place to visit.

If, for some reason, you find yourself North of the keys in homestead, go to Robert's fruit stand for the best selection of tropical fruit. Also, must see the everglades. I recommend a stroll through the annahenga trail.

John Pennekamp state park in key largo has a great snorkeling excursion. Also in key largo, try the pilot house for some great grub. The island smoke shop is in key largo if you're into cigars. It is the biggest humidor in the area. Also, there is a really interesting bird sanctuary in key largo. I learned a ton about the birds native to Florida.

Anne's beach in Islamorada is great for kids because the water is very shallow nearly 100 yards out from the shore.

If you are looking for a place to stay in key West, I recommend the merlin guest house one street from Duval. Beautiful courtyard. Quiet, but still close to the action.

Key West ghost tour was the best I've ever been on. I don't know if there is more than one, but do the walking tour that goes by Robert the doll's house and the chameleon club.

Watch the sunset from the the rooftop bar in La Concha hotel or in Mallory square for the sunset celebration.

Eat Key Lime pie at Kermit's.

See Hemingway's house and his 6 toed cats.

Chase some roosters.

Hide in some banyan trees.

Climb the lighthouse.

Late night stroll down Duval to see the debauchery.

Drinks at sloppy Joes.
