Without her it’s come to my attention that she was our best secondary defender. Not with blocked shots but with the sacrifice of her body to take a charge on anyone. We don’t have that type of player right now without her. We are missing her toughness who will step up or has the ability?

I think all of them have the ability and the willingness to take a charge if the opportunity is there. And no college player minds a good flop now and then.

Yep. Per Her Hoop Stats, Keyen was 4th on the team in defensive rating behind Horston, Key, and Dye (and actually 2nd in offensive rating behind Key). She was also 2nd on the team in defensive and offensive win shares per 40 minutes. So, you lose that, and gain back Rae, who currently is last on the entire team in defensive rating (with a smaller sample size and probably against a tougher overall schedule/stretch of games).

Don’t underestimate the impact Green’s absence on the floor has had. She was the rock on the floor when she was in; she focused our players, kept them calm and poised. Also, luckily, Lady Vols are not dependent on one great player; they play as a team and everyone has a role. You may not like the answer, but it’s true that it takes time to adjust to a new role, which all of the players must do.

And FLA and Auburn made us play their game — they pressured us and put bodies on us and the refs let it play.

1. Play your role.
2. Who will be the new mom on the court? Stay calm.
3. Play physical.
4. Slow it down to take care of the ball. ( not fun to watch, but….)

We are the #4 team in the country when we play OUR game.

So, Kellie has to figure how to win without her. That can be a process that may take several games, if it can be done at all.
Patience. The point is to keep getting better and be ready for March. Learn from the mistakes. And Kellie knows how to coach that and the players want to learn. They’ve proven that. No one should be mad at the coaches or the players until they give up or don’t care.
