Obviously this one will be quite a bit easier than the last two of Villanova and UNC, in which we went 1-1 in the HoF classic.
TTU live video is not all that easy to find, against Memphis they came out in zone and switched to man, regardless of the defensive set they ran Memphis got what they wanted on the way to TTU losing 89-65. All numbers used will be from KenPom.com
TTU plays four guys heavily, led by JR Clay. A pretty solid PG with a very good eye for getting his guys good looks. (Assist rate of 32%)
They play five others that get time, but not heavy minutes.
JR Clay 80.6% of minutes (6' 0" 170lbs)
Keishawn Davidson 76.9% of minutes (6'2" 175)
Diante Wood 61.9% of minutes (6'4" 210)
Mamoudou Diarra 60.6% of minutes (6'9" 225)
Shandon Goldman 47.5% of minutes (6'10" 225)
Amadou Sylla 43.8% of minutes (6'8" 235)
John Pettway 42.5% of minutes (6'3" 190)
Kenny White 34.4% of minutes (6'7" 205")
Daniel Ramsey 30.0% of minutes 6'9" 235)
Keys to victory are pretty simple overall... Play our game and run our stuff. If they go zone you obviously want to attack the middle and the baseline, which I think we have the guys to do. In this game I'd love to get guys like Huntley-Hatfield a lot of minutes. I'll assume JJJ will be back and hopefully he can get his shot going. I don't really see any true "keys" to victory here.
On that note, TTU has an offensive rebound rate of 40.1% which is good for 9th in the country. We will obviously want to keep them off the offensive glass so we don't give a lesser team more opportunities at putting points on the board and hanging around.
TTU also gives up a very high FG% to opponents at 58.7%, so we should be able to score at will.
We should be able to score all we want tomorrow and I expect guys like Chandler, ORN and others to look how they did before the pre Villanova.
My prediction for the game is Tennessee 93 TTU 52.
