What are the keys to winning the UGA game? I think that it will be to put pressure on the true Fr. and redshirt Fr. QB. They haven't played a D of our caliber yet this year. If our pass rush is as good as it was against Cal I think we win big.

Big plays on offense....attach their defense....until UGA shows me that they can do anything offensively, i think our key will be attack a defense that hasn't been tested yet.

Keys to UGA game...Ainge, Meachem, and Swain. The UGA staff will be expecting us to establish Coker early, especially after the Memphis game and knowing Cutcliffe's tendencies. This means that we should have either Swain or Meachem one on one over the top, and plenty of routes open behind their LBs. I would like to see us air it out early then try to establish the running game later. If we try to establish the running game first and we fail, then we are going to have a heck of a time trying to throw the ball.

If we can get pressure on their inexperienced QBs (assuming they continue to rotate Stafford and Cox), they will panic and throw interceptions. On offense, we need to do like we did in the Memphis game - come out and establish the run. Once we've got the defense thinking run, start making some deep passes with playaction. The keys: get pressure on their QBs and establish the running game.

I agree with your take on what the D needs to do. I do however think we need to pass first. Get the D on their heels and then come at them with Coker on some draws. We know we can pass, and I think we need to come out firing. We have questions running the ball so I would rather us not come out pounding away and going 3 and out and give them so momentum.

i kind of agree with RealUT on this one...the play action works cause of our tendencies...we don't really even have to come out and run early....cause everyone knows we want to run the ball...i think we need to come out early and get the ball down feild and make sure that later in the game the safeties and LB's are playing off the line of scrimmage. If that were to work, then it could be like the Memphis game where UGA won't know what to expect or when.

the worst thing that we could do is try to run on 1st down a lot and get put in 2nd and long and 3rd and long....our mantra for the day should be 2nd and short and 3rd and short.

if we come out and try to pound them early, i think it could be a long day...we are a good passing offense, but part of what has made us that is the ability to mix it up and keep the defenses somewhat honest--can't overload any one thing cause you respect both. balance, set up by the pass.

If it makes you feel any better ( I know I dont) looks like Joe T will probably get the start.

1.) Special Teams
2.) Field Position
3.) Limit/Cause Turnovers
4.) Control the line of scrimmage
5.) Run the ball-5 or more carries over 12 yards
6.) Throw the ball-3 or more passes over 16 yards.

Very simple.

Stop the run and have no turnovers and UT wins. It really is that simple.

I think we win the game if we run the ball, period. We would've won the UF game if we'd establish a run. Our D will be good. Doesn't mean they won't give up plays, but they'll be stout. If we can establish the run and keep the ball on long possessions like we did against Memphis, I think we win. If our RBs only run for 50 yards, I think we lose.

That is Jim Tressel's list of key factors for any particular game.....

He loves his special teams and field position!

Doesn't matter to me. Either an untalented Sr. or some talented and inexperienced Fr. Either one sounds good to me.

Please Lord, let us stop the run!

What Joe T lacks in physical ability, he can provide in leadership and knowledge of the offense. at times in the past two games, both Cox and Stafford looked a little bit overwhelmed...not by the defenses they were playing, rather the speed at which the game was played.

case in point...in the Colorado game, there was a play in the 2nd half where Stafford rolled out for a screen and he threw a bullet. bounced off the TE's shoulder pads and all you could think was man why'd he throw it that hard?

i think it's safe to say that UGA hasn't been "beaten" by anybody they've played. they have been their own worst enemy so far, and they have still won the games. a fact that can't be overlooked. they've gotten turnovers when needed etc....

and at some point you look at UGA and say to yourself, "eventually they're going to stop beating themselves and play football". No one has lined up against them and just beat them from the punch. dropped balls, penalties, special teams mistakes etc...have been their problem. Combine that with young qb's and it's no wonder why they've struggled.

I for one just don't think they'll play like that Saturday night. Don't know if it means they'll win, but i sure don't expect them to play a 3rd straight stinker.

Agreed but he has been out for 3 weeks and will undoubtable be rusty. Thats just what we need is a Rusty Qb with a week arm going into the UT game. I hope I am wrong but right now I am not very optomistic.

I sure hope we come out fired up and ready to play because the last two weeks have not been very inspiring.

And for UT keys to the game. If I was CPF I would be doing everything I could to protect Ainge and keep Charles Johnson and Quinton Moses off him. He is the key to your offense

1. Stop uga from running. Without the run they're nothing. If we can either tackle well or load up the line, then we can play man on their wr's and I feel we will win that battle.

2. Confuse and pressure the uga qb's as much as possible. Turn Karl and Mayo loose on blitzes and fake blitzes.

3. Give Ainge time to throw. Their d-line is strong, and we'll be starting a redshirt freshmen at center on his first true road game. If he has time, Swain and Meachem WILL make plays.

4. Contain Thomas Brown on kick returns. He changed the ole miss game. Since Lumpkin and Ware have had better seasons, this is Brown's only chance to shine. Stop him and force them to pass...we dont want a shorter field.

5. Ignore the hype. Dont think about how we're favored, or how crappy uga has been. Remember how uga has beat us 5 out of 6. It doesnt matter if our team is better then theirs, they THINK they are better. Play with a chip on your shoulder.

6. If we dont win, kiss the east goodbye. Take this game very seriously and dont let it slip away like florida.

and everybody knows it...i would expect a heavy does of pressure from UGA's front early on...if we can beat it....look out. We haven't proven we can run effectively against good defenses, and if Sears is not 100%, it could put the game on Ainge's arm 100%. a prospect that last year seemed disasterous, but this year doesn't send chilss up your spine, at least for us. the other good thing for us is he has so far proven that he can take care of the ball, and when he doesn't, he doesn't melt under the heat.

it's only Monday...man this is going to be a long week.:whatever:

I have to agree with that. Stack up the line and make them beat us passing the ball. We're No. 3 in the SEC in passing defense right now.

Another fatcor that hasn't been mentioned, and ya hope it doesn't come down to this in any game.. but the refs. We better pray to God and all that is holy that the pro-Georgia refs that were in Oxford last Saturday night are nowhere near Athens this coming Saturday night.

I'm not worried about the refs. Most often bad calls go both ways. Now tidwell be very careful with the ref threads. I mean I sure don't want you to come across as a bammer. They even think the refs cost them Sat against the gators.

Good point. I don't see how impartial referees could of made a holding call on the blocked punt. If you ask me, those referees should be suspended.
