Good morning,
I am a long time follower and reader of this forum, this is my first time posting, so please be gentle. :)
We are taking our kids to their very first Vols game vs. Missouri. Can you give me some tips on where to park, not park. easy access to the stadium. What time does the Vol Walk start?
I want it to be a positive experience for my kids.
Thanks everyone!

The Gameday page on the University of Tennessee website will have some answers for you - not all.

Link - Gameday Information - Missouri

It says the Vol Walk starts at 9:45 AM (12 PM kickoff, so, early morning for Vol Walk participation).

A lot of past threads about parking for games on the forum, too. I'd suggest searching the forum search function using words like "parking" to see what they've said. (just to save you time)

Hope it's a high scoring blast for y'all!

Hope y'all have a great time. UTSports website does a good job consolidating all relevant information for gameday on their site. This should be specific to the Missouri game you're going to...

The city has a pretty comprehensive explanation of parking options here;

UT Football GameDay Info

A lot depends on where you're coming from, how far are you willing to walk, do you want ride a shuttle from remote lots, and if you're willing to wait in line for a shuttle, etc.

We parked last Saturday at Knoxville City County Building off S. Gay Street, $20 parking and a short walk to the stadium.
It was my first game...man it was awesome. Dark mode...man still reliving it in my mind.

How old are your kids? It's Missouri so it may not be as loud but you may want to consider some ear muffs for them

Have fun

My kids are 7 and 8 years old. We have ordered some ear muffs for them. Being senior day and more than likely (in my opinion at least), still undefeated, I can imagine it still being loud (ish).
Thanks for the tips!

I would advise getting to the Vol Walk at least 30-45 min early if you want to be able to see.

I would say you're probably safe, attending Missouri at noon, but you're doing the right thing being conscious of potential hearing damage. At 110 decibels (so Florida or Alabama games, or 2015 Oklahoma if you will), the hearing damage starts within minutes - not hours. The noise isn't necessarily sustained at football games, but it's enough to impact hearing permanently when it's really loud.

One thing to remember is that almost any rating for any device, be it earmuffs or earplugs, is to halve the "dB protection" number they give you. That's a recommendation from both OSHA and some governmental organization whose acronym I can't remember. And at some point earplugs are more effective than earmuffs. I use Moldex Pura-Fits and they do a pretty good job.

Anyway, I say this not to chastise you or dissuade you from going. Just to give some advice from someone who wishes they'd worn earplugs about 7 Florida games ago. Thanks for looking out for your childrens' hearing. They may think it's weird now, but they'll hopefully appreciate it someday - after many many years of dominant Tennessee football crowds.

Yeah it's always great to be cautious, but I think the noise shouldn't be a problem and your kids shouldn't have to wear them.

My 8 year old son legit fell asleep in the 4th quarter of the UK game lol... he's an early riser and his motor runs all day as soon as his feet touch the ground so he's almost always knocked out at 9pm.

I saw someone recommend parking in the garage to the children's hospital so that's where we parked on Saturday. I think the proceeds go to the hospital and the walk wasn't bad. You get to walk down Cumberland Ave on the way to Neyland. Vol Village might be worth checking out. Arrive early to the Vol Walk if you plan on getting up close.

My kids and I attended our first game at Kentucky.

I brought foam earplugs, which they chose to use once it got loud.

We parked in the garage next to Bank of America. $20. Took 15 mins for our active family to walk to the stadium. We actually made a few laps.

It took 55 minutes after the game to get out of the garage, around the side streets, and far enough down Henley for traffic to disperse.

in hindsight, I might look to park 15 minutes away in a more direct line to the interstate. And the parking garage traffic jam sucked.

We could get no internet, and very little cell service, in the stadium itself.

All the links everyone posted above were very accurate and helpful. You are going to have a great time!

. That or some little ear plugs.. it might be a little loud for them.. out of all of the SEC teams though, I still think Neyland is still the most family friendly, but be prepared to see an intermittent drunk acting a fool every once in a while, but not as bad as other places for sure… day game you should be okay

Parking - depends on game time and age of kids (e.g. whether you spend the night before or after the game and/or would you be carrying kids back/forth to Neyland)
Take kids to VOL Walk - YES!!!
Getting kids some Vol Gear at bookstore - YES!!!
Pic with kids and Smokey - Yes! (there’s at least a little replica near bookstore).
Video of Kids singing Rocky Top - Absolutely YES!!!

Did you find that lot was near capacity? How early did you arrive to park?

No it had plenty spots actually, but was parked on L5 and there were quite a few spaces. I actually passed up a few to get closer to the end(had someone walking ahead to check for spots😎) Getting out wasn't bad either but getting down to Henley was a sloooooooooow, sit and wait.
Got there around 4:30. That's what the time stamp on the picture I took of the Level so I wouldn't forget hahaha
Walked down to the stadium and got a a good spot for the Band marching in.
Didn't see the Vol walk though but the bus they were on did pass us as we walked to the campus.
Going through the gate was a breeze too. I was surprised how fast it went.

I may try it out. I saw another garage on s gay but looked like $80 for gameday parking.

So Not Too bad of a walk to Neyland from there? I will have a 5 year old with me.

Naw it's not a bad walk at all to and from the game. Saw plenty kids around that age also walking.
$20 parking wasn't bad at all either 😎
Just remember what level you parked on LOL

When I went to the Bama game, I parked in the State St. parking garage downtown. You can park there for free, but it’s about a mile walk to campus. It was fine for me, but with two young kids, it’s probably more challenging.

thats why I'm thinking of parking this saturday to try something new - was it easy to get in/out of and how early before the game did you arrive to get a spot there?

Got there around 4:30ish, missed Vol Walk but saw the bus pass as we were walking to the stadium. Got to see the Band march and then in the stadium for the lightshow...getting out of the garage wasn't a problem. People were pretty courteous in letting you back out of your spot.
The walk to the stadium wasn't bad either.
The problem was once out of the garage the streets were sit and wait but wasn't too bad. You may want to use Waze it took into account of all the traffic.
