Never knew about this, but how do you say that to an 18 year old kid...

per B/R

To make a long story short, Jeffery took his visits to South Carolina and Tennessee, and the Trojans never quit recruiting him.

"He tried his best to talk me out of it, but my mind was made up," said Jeffery, who still refers to Carroll as "Pete."

Kiffin was equally dogged. But when it was obvious that Jeffery wasn't going to Tennessee, Kiffin took off the gloves.

According to Jeffrey and (Walter) Wilson, Kiffin told Jeffery that if he chose the Gamecocks, he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other players from that state who had gone to South Carolina.

Jeffery was doing his best to stay awake at that point, but that comment from Kiffin woke him up. He clearly hasn't forgotten it, either.

"He said it, but it's not worth talking about," Jeffery said.

Horrible thing to say to an 18 year old, Kiffin just has a sour attitude in general.

Dude is turning out to be a baller in the league...and Kiffin knew it....which is why he wanted to say or do anything he could to change AJ's mind.

You never seen the "pumping gas" jokes on here?

I'm shocked that someone has gone this long without knowing that story. We need a sticky thread of all of Kiffin's follies.

Hey, OP, did you know that Kiffin almost had a Petrino-esque blunder? It involved a loaned vehicle instead of a motorcycle though.

There are worse things he could have said. Like, hey you could end up playing in the NFL for the Bears...

I wished I was pumping gas if Jeffery is pumping gas. In all honesty I hope Kiffin is pumping real gas soon.

He sure was pumping gas on Lame's Daddy's/Cowboys defense last night but when you think about everybody is. Look for Daddy-O to join Lame in the unemployment line soon!

Dooley should be in the back seat with his heels up since we are paying him to do nothing.

If Spurrier had said it about TN then it would have just been chalked up as another hilarious one-liner from the "ole ball coach".
