This makes so much sense and Kiffin would absolutely tear it up down there. Kiffin strikes me as a West coast guy , South beach dude yea I can def see him taking the Miami job. Imagine being the guy that brought the U back to glory. Kiffin will never win a SEC or National title at Ole Miss and I’m sure deep down he knows it. He could at Miami though in a much easier conference and it appears Clemson maybe on the decline as well and FSU is still stuck in the mud and now Florida is in turmoil.

Completely agree Kiffin has the attitude to match the old U moxie down there...and now is the time with FSU down and Clemson coming back to Earth for one year at least

Everything I hear is that the Miami admin probably wouldn’t even care if they didn’t field a football team any longer.
Oh they do care, If not they would keep the idiot they hired to coach the football team...Kiffin is the big rumor down here and he would take it in a heartbeat...He loved living here before so he would feel right at home.

I think Kiffin is exactly what fans of "the U" are looking for. From what I read about the Miami administration, not so much.

I know they care, but I don’t think it’s the priority it once was. This is coming from my buddy who recently worked in the Miami AD. I think there are a ton of politics involved down there. Not that there aren’t at most schools, but I think the 🙌 is a different animal.

If Diaz does get fired, the most important question that needs to be asked is “Will Coach X bring the swag back to THE U”? Every single year. Is the swag back at The U? No. It’s not. It’s not gonna be either . Ever.

Was mentioning this in the "Kiffin to LSU" thread but feels more relevant here...everything UM has won in football over the years is in spite of their administration. The academic side of the house hates it that the university is known for the football team, even in the 80s and early 2000s when they were winning titles.

UM's admin are the same namby pamby types that run Vandy, except Miami has actually been really good at football in the past and could be in the future.

It really is a contrast in cultures form what I’ve been told. Two very extreme contrasts.

It's like if Vandy's admin is what it is, but they had a football program that had won national titles in the past and an "outlaw" fanbase. UM as a school is as bookish, buttoned-up, and academically-minded as they come, but you'd never guess that from the fanbase. It's hilarious.

I loathe their “fan base”. It’s like this bandwagon group that likes to pound it’s chest like twice a year and always talks about what I was saying earlier, their swag. Michael Irvin and Ed Reed are HOF’s, but if I see another interview with them talking about the old days and how they need to have “their guy”. It’s like Michigan always wanting a “Michigan Man” but the administration hates the “Miami Swag Guy”.

Yep. Their fanbase is as bandwagon as they come, maybe even more than Alabama's.

If Lane left it would catch so many Ole Miss fans by surprise, and I'm not sure why. That's Lane's personality. There are lots of people like him, especially in the corporate world. They might be totally satisfied and happy with their current job, but they are always looking for another job, even if they just got there. "Grass is always greener somewhere else" people who don't look at what is right in front of them.

This. The students/alums are very much a Duke/Vandy type that comes down from the Northeast for academics and weather and return or go elsewhere and the fanbase are the local, sidewalk alums who can’t spell Hurricanes.

I don’t see it happening. He knows the SEC is the best conference and he likely wants to be the best coach in the best conference.
