Kiffin to Ole Miss

As I’ve said, he’s been streaky at FAU. That means some good, some bad. Overall, he’s 25-13 there. That’s not exactly amazing. His FAU team has lost to the likes of Buffalo, Middle Tennessee, La Tech, North Texas, Charlotte and Marshall. And he’s racked up wins against the likes of FIU, Wagner, West Kentucky and Old Dominion. There’s your facts.

So if you wanna call 25-13 at FAU an indicator that he’s a winner, and that 25-13 at FAU offsets the fact that he wrecked three different programs who are still trying to recover from his tenure, then go for it.

Wow the Hate runs deep Huh? The facts are He turned FAU around in YEAR ONE, and just won the CUSA Championship by rolling UAB. He played the schedule someone else made, and won with basically someone elses' players. Geeze yall need to let the hate go. LK can coach; and we will see it at Ole Miss in a couple seasons. Will he stay at OM? No, he wants the bama job when Saban retires.

At USC his QB coach was Clay Helton.

I’ll slow it down: he can easily put together a staff of great and proven assistants, aka an all-star staff, regardless of who he has “waiting for him,” and in fact he has done it every single time he’s had a job in a major conference.

Was that before or after he was fired from USC? The greatest coach in the history of mankind with the greatest staffs has been fired twice and has never won a conference championship at a Power 5 conference. Clay Helton is now a great coach? He does have a better record at USC than Lane, I will give you that.

You’re either intentionally avoiding the point or being ridiculously dense, because said point is very simple: he can hire a good staff of assistants to Ole Miss. So far you’ve claimed that his good assistants were all his friends (obviously untrue), that you need to have a staff of assistants waiting for you in order to hire a good staff (just dumb), and now that saying he can hire a good staff means I’m saying he’s THE GREATEST COACH WITH THE GREATEST STAFFS EVER. You don’t need to be; just take a smidge less money for yourself and pay your staff a little extra, which is generally what he’s done.

This will have the West squirming. Kiff took FAU to new heights winning the conference 2 out of three years. They were essentially nothing prior to that and have only had football since 2001. they finished the previous three seasons at 3-9 and have been a .400 winning percentage program prior to his arrival.

Like coach O, I think Kiffin has learned some valuable lessons and will be a nightmare for the SEC. He’ll recruit hard and on the fringes and will have a great offense to be sure.

Like other former Saban Assistants, he sees blood in the water ... Prime time to come back to SEC and go after Bama.

Saban now has 3 former assistants gunning for him: Pruitt, Smart, and Kiffin.

I am not the one extolling his greatness, that would be you. I am merely pointing out that if he and his staffs were as great as you claim then he would have won at the Power 5 level. He hasn’t, something you and the Kiffin apologist seem to be ignoring. He also wouldn’t be at OM, a program that has never won an SEC championship in it’s entire existence. His “greatest” staff was centered around Ed Orgeron, his dad, Frank Wilson, and James Cregg. All of which were colleagues/friends of his at the time, they aren’t coming back with the exception of possibly Frank Wilson. Every coach assembles a “great” staff in the eyes of their fans and players. I am only referring to truly great coaches not your definition of “great” just to try prove your point. Clay Helton, Randy Shannon, and Lance Thompson don’t meet that definition. We will revisit this thread after he hires his staff at OM

This hire will look real good for one or two seasons. Then the wheels will fall off with, mistakes and locker room drama.

Schedule-wise, Ole Miss has Baylor in Houston, FL at home and the usual SECwest gauntlet. Uconn, Vandy, SE Mizzou, Arky and GA Southern should make winning 5 games highly achievable.

He's got a real good running QB and Coral is great too. That defense is a dumpster fire though.

I'm sure he picked up a few good things from Saban, so he won't be quite as bad as he was for uscWest.

“Rolling UAB.” 😂

So I guess his amazing win over UAB supplants his amazing win over Southern Miss as his signature win at FAU?

I’ll never understand the segment of the Tennessee fan base who still swing from this guy’s nutsack. I think it’s a minority of UT fans but it’s a persistent bunch.

All the best to Kiffin at Ole Miss. I have no hate toward the guy, I actually like his moxie and offensive acumen. But as a head coach he has sucked. His pretty good, albeit streaky run at FAU does not offset the three train wrecks in his past.

I'll go on record right now. Kiffin will not be successful at Ole Miss.

And I'll also predict that even that won't quell the inexplicable man-crush some fans seem to have for him.

Kiffin is good for the economy....he will support the jobs of at least 6-8 sports reporters at every CFB media outlet in America...

His one year at Tennessee wasn't a train wreck (him leaving the way he did was the trainwreck). He got hosed at USC (they were under sanctions from Carroll). 64% career winning % isn't too terrible.

Maybe I’m a little old school, the Tennessee I remember, and grew up with, 7-6 is a train wreck.

I agree with this but people do act like he's some amazing HC for some reason. I think he can be but it's yet to be proven.

I get that.

Phil's last 3 years is what started the wreck. I do think Kiffin would have been relatively successful (at least better than the 2 clowns that followed).

Who is currently unemployed as a HC and has been so for the past 2 years?

Who is getting Saban coffee and who is winning conference championships?
I do not like Butch’s abilities. Certainly the back to back 9-4 seasons were misleading because of primarily Dobb’s dual threat skills. I believe Kiffin is flashy and more style over substance as far as HC is concerned. We will have to wait and see.
